Here is how the Jews felt about their lack of resistance.

The very first thing that all dictators (no matter what political party they belong to) do is to seize weapons from the population, provided that someone didn’t already beat them to it. Once that happens, they can literally do ANYTHING to the population, and the only ones who can stop them are their own police and/or military via a coup or assassination. Of course, doing anything that they want to the population IS THE VERY REASON FOR GUN CONTROL. The HuffPost asswipes clearly never gave that idea a single moment’s thought.
Germany herded disarmed Jews (and Gypsies, and gays and priests and anyone else who actually opposed them or whom they hated) to pits to be shot in the back of the head or into gas chambers. Well-armed Switzerland, OTOH, was left alone because of the fearsome cost that overcoming 500,000 militia (IF they could have overcome them, and there are some reasonable doubts about that) would have exacted upon Germany.
As my first college Economics professor said, “Incentives matter (and so do disincentives).” Well, simple logic dictates that if there is no disincentive to your plans to round up and murder millions of opponents, then you’re FAR more likely to attempt it than if 20% of them could resist enough to take one or 2 of your police/soldiers with them. The Huffpost is, as usual, completely and totally full of $hit.
My wife’s uncle, whom I knew for many years before he died, was a “guest” of 4 of Herr Shitler’s camps, including Birkenau, the work camp attached to Auschwitz. He witnessed his father and brother being murdered before his eyes, and lost every member of his extended family in Europe. He was NEVER without a gun on his person or in the same room with him - and since he was no dope (he spoke 8 languages and was a very, very wealthy man after getting out of the camps with just the shirt on his back), it is hard to argue the logic of being armed to at least exact a cost on someone trying to kill you.
In any case, THIS particular Jew is very well armed, and intends to remain so NO MATTER WHAT - specifically including any laws that criminalize the mere possession of firearms. I would like to say, “Never again!” but that mere wish or sentiment isn’t enough. The proper thing to say is, “Never again...but if again, then not for free.”
In summation: “Get in the oven”.
Absolute hogwash to corelate Jews fighting back at Warsaw with increased hostility towards ghettos.
In 1944 the USA began the final push to destroy Hitlers war machine, starting with retaking France and the wholesale bombing of German cities and rail lines. This, more than anything else, resulted in manic efforts by the Germans to cover war atrocities that just could not be concealed.
See my comment on the Warsaw Ghetto. A small number of armed Jews faced the full wrath of the Nazi war machine and brought it to a halt for a full month. Yeah, they eventually lost, but the Nazis were forced to raze the whole ghetto to the ground.
It easily could happen here - it's what this last coup effort was about...
We see our country being invaded by illegals for the benefit of democrats - and we stand on the sidelines waiting for our representatives to get off their butts and stop it.
What can we do?
Make a plan. Talk to each other ... encourage 'never trumpers' to leave the party. Run against republicans who don't aback Trump. It's not just guns - we need to organize.
How about a modern example then? Here's something that is happening all over Europe but especially Germany right now: a squad of German police show up to a german muslim no-go zone. The muslims in the nogo zone fight back. A few muslims killed, a few police killed. End Result? the german police don't go there any more.
The HuffPo won't mention it, and Europe now likes to pretend the US wasn't involved in liberating Europe, but if the Jewish folk and their non-jew camp-mates or ghetto mates had been able to get more guns, sure a lot would have died, but maybe not as many, and a better armed resistance would have bought precious time until the US was posititioned to come to the rescue with the full weight and determination of the American people (with a little help from the Brits and a full compliment of Russians provided American equipment on the side). Same tactic worked back in the 1800s with the US Cavalry. The fort defended itself until special forces could get there. And so the West was settled. And WW2 was won.
Wow. Just. Stupid.
Of course, just that alone wasn’t responsible. But certainly had a lot to do with it.
We unfortunately will never know for certain.
What we can know is they could have resisted, and made the enemy pay its own price in lives.
What about the Maccabees? They successfully rebeled against Antiochus IV, a small bunch of rebels against the greatest power in the world at that time.
And in some cases better armed.
Today's totalitarian socialists want absolute power over our lives and our deaths, just like their predecessor socialists of the 1930s-1940s.

Completely misses the benefits personal firearm ownership would have had. The idea that less than 1% of Germany's population would have stopped the rise of the Reich is absurd. Non Jewish political militias tried, and didn't. It would have had no impact on the Holocaust, other than providing more anti Jewish political fodder were there an uprising of sorts. The only option was fleeing Germany, which about 70% of Germany's Jews dis. Owning a firearm individually would have highly beneficial in that task. And possibly fatal. Of course it wouldn't have helped getting out of Europe, so most would have been rounded up anyway, but at least at a cost to Germany. Facing a smaller but adequate German force, the Warsaw ghetto held out longer than France.

Gun ownership is a deterrent, not a plan of resistance to actual tyranny in action. If more Germans and more Jews were armed in Germany, the Nuremberg Laws and other forms of repression might not have been enforceable, and thus not enacted for fear that the brown shirts would end up with egg on their faces and more than a few of them dead.
