I am trying to understand the standards and criteria for a post and thread being removed from FR.
A few days ago, a thread regarding 2 Rottweilers killing a small child was removed.
The post was from a legitimate news report. The content of the thread was not surprising, facts and reports being referenced on dog attacks, and emotional appeals along the lines of "I will own whatever dog I want."
The point: This post was not different than many here at FR. Facts were being presented and a discussion was being had. Is there a stated criteria here at FR under which a Post and thread will disappear with no explanation? Sometimes I see a pop-up that states a thread has been pulled with some reason. This one just went away. Why?

Dogbite.org is a cynophobic website fun by a ambulance chasing lawyer. It’s full of lies and unsubstantiated “facts”.

Yes emotions were running high and some inappropriate words were used. I was not the poster but was a participant and I found the discussion OK. Maybe it was the fact that it was clear that some of the participants were NOT going to agree to disagree.
Nonetheless; much IS posted that is not about conservatism but is interesting. Archeology stuff, even some daily word crytogram game, history stuff, etc. But its all good.
No....it means they just don’t like you.....:)

It was not my thread. It was indeed Norski’s but I was a participant.
My intention was not to rehash the points in the thread, but to understand why it was pulled. So are you’re saying that citing Dogbite.org was sufficient to pull the thread.

removal of threads is often a lot like lightening striking: pretty random and you never know when or where ...
Personal responsibility is a big part of conservatism. When dogs get out of control because of irresponsible owners and kill or injure other people, it certainly seems like that would be a topic that would be appropriate for FR.
Yup, that is how it appeared.
Just for reference, I am pro-dog. We have a German Shepherd / Chow mix (she is our guard dog, and will bite if necessary and she seems to know when and how is the right time, but she is always under our control) and a Newfoundland (sweetest dog in the whole world, dumb as a post. Sometimes I don’t even think he knows his name).

I was just thinking, there was a thread yesterday on the KETO diet that got almost as violent as the dog one, but it didn’t get pulled.

absolutely the dog posts have merit. Plus, since its a diverse group here, this crap may be happening in someone’s backyard. It’s good to know, imho.
I understood. I have done a LOT of board moderation myself. And while moderation requires no explanation at all, I found that it most times saved me a lot of work in the future to share the why as a courtesy to your patrons. But sometimes when you do share an explanation it can create a whole new “that’s not fair” rebuttal conversation that also eats up unnecessary time effort and bandwidth. I respect and understand both sides of this.
