Interesting stuff. Thanks for sharing.
Personally, I never log into any email or financial account from my phone. Android is NOT a secure operating system.
Windows ping?

the “padlock” doesn’t necessarily mean a URL is “authentic”, it can simply mean that the contents are privacy encrypted between the client and server via a public/private key pair, where said key pairs are now essentially being given away to anyone who wants a pair (you used to have to pay a pittance, but most web hosting sites are now giving them away) ...
Thanks for Posting this.
So does this mean that I have to upgrade from My Flat Rock Screen, Hammer and Chisel ?
PING

Android phones and tablets; Messaging, games, calendar, flashlight, camera, calculator and weather radar access. That’s all I use on mine. Except for Kindle for Android on my tablet.
android & chrome are both google, the info hungry conglomerate of the tech world that wants to know your every thought so they can better market to you. I’ve got an Nvidia Shield TV box and when done watching, we shut it down, plus turn off the strip outlet that powers it because it has something similar to Alexa in it and has a microphone in the remote. Hopefully killing the power via the strip outlet is enough. I’ve been using Opera Mini browser on our phone. There’s a slew of googly apps that can’t be uninstalled which I hate. There’s some open source phones being worked on with Purism/Librem leading the way.
>>> Purism devices feature hardware kill switches to allow users to shut off the camera, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and cellular or mobile broadband modem on devices that have one (or can be purchased air gapped). <<<

>>> The Librem 15 is the first ultra-portable workstation laptop that was designed chip-by-chip, line-by-line, to respect your rights to privacy, security, and freedom. Every hardware and software componentand everything we dois in line with our belief in respecting your rights to privacy, security, and freedom. <<<
>>> To many in the world, modern smartphones have become the single most significant piece of technology in their lives, a gateway to the world and representing your digital life. This comes at a price however: the tech industry have progressively turned you into the product or entrapped you into constantly buying new hardware. They design phones with services and apps that track and analyze your habits, your friends and acquaintances, and then exploit that information.
We believe phones should not track you nor exploit your digital life.
The Librem 5 represents the opportunity for you to take back control and protect your private information, your digital life through free and open source software, open governance, and transparency. The Librem 5 is a phone built on PureOS, a fully free, ethical and open-source operating system that is not based on Android or iOS (learn more about why this is important).
We have successfully crossed our crowdfunding goals and will be delivering on our promise. The Librem 5s hardware and software development is advancing at a steady pace, and is scheduled for an initial release in Q3 2019. You can preorder the phone at $649 until shipping begins and regular pricing comes into effect. Kits with an external monitor, keyboard and mouse, are also available for preorder. <<<
Laptops are kinda pricey too, around $2k for the 15” model well equipped but that’s the way it goes with small scale tech.
You can also download PureOS to install on your own machine.

Because windows sucks, googly sucks, Mac ain’t that great and is pricey.
Linux/open source rules because big tech can’t be trusted.
