The Moon picked up a mini black hole 100,000 years ago and the hole’s growth is increasing.
The final collapse will be quite violent and will indeed wipe us all out.
I propose a UN tax on carbon to fund an effort to move the Moon away from us before the process reaches a disaster threshold, which I think is 20 years out.

Isn’t it amazing how the two most prominent discs in the sky are exactly the same size (from our POV) when we look up at them. How did that happen?! What are the odds of that?! Not to mention all the other mathematicial calculations that are exactly perfect for creating and sustaining life on earth. A fraction of a degree one direction or the other would throw the entire thing off! There are no coincidences!
