Democrats will introduce legislation to mandate zero-emissions vehicles make up all new car sales by 2040. The bill is co-sponsored by three Democrats running for president in 2020 who support the Green New Deal. The internal combustion engine has long been a target for environmentalists.

Democrats will introduce legislation to completely phase out the use of gasoline-powered cars by mandating that only zero-emissions vehicles can be sold by 2040.

“When I take a lungful of air in this moment, it has 30 percent more carbon in it than when I was born,” Oregon Sen. Jeff Merkley, the bill’s main sponsor told The Huffington Post on Wednesday. “That is a change that has never happened in a single generation of humankind on this planet.”

That rule will sure play Hell with NASCAR-—Indy Cars—Drag Racing—Off Road racing—boat racing, etc.

In NASCAR, Rick Hendricks operation has over 650 employees alone.

Lots of investments in racing venues.

Most of the safety technology in today’s cars came from RACING.

There would be less Carbon Dioxide in the current air if people quit cutting down trees to build houses & buildings for the ever increasing population.

When millions of acres of trees BURN each year, that also stops those trees from turning carbon dioxide into oxygen.

All politicians need some basic chemistry lessons.

There is no such thing as a zero-emission vehicle. Something is bound to be emitted somewhere in order to make the vehicle, or to make it go.

And that is exactly the most important difference between the right and the left;

The left wants to guilt and dictate and finally, force you to live your life as only THEY approve.

The right just wants to be left the f&@k alone!

The rest of us are watching, informed, armed, and waiting for the first move toward an imposed Socialism.

It won’t be imposed. We’ll keep voting for it incrementally, as we have for the last hundred years, until it’s here. But it will be called something else, like The Fair Deal.

I’ll be 96 or not present and I plan to get one more car before I’m too old - hopefully a 1000hp gas fueled mid engined corvette

Now that is a red blooded American talking right there!

They should continuously plant more trees.

That’s pretty good. A realistic depiction of how far away the planets are from the sun is sobering, too.

That was how the Quebecois were for centuries! Instead of meeting and interacting with the ‘rest of Canada’ (back in the day, mostly Scots, English and Irish Protestants), their priests told them not to mix with ‘les maudit anglais’, not to become educated, not to leave Quebec, not to leave the farm, keep tithing (and more) to Mother Church because God loves ornately decorated, golden cathedrals and he would reward them.

That worked until the late 1940s when a number of Vets came back from overseas. There was a great awakening and the vast majority of Quebecois turned against Mother Church and Christianity.Quebec is now the most secular society in all of North America. It suffers the highest suicide rate, addiction rate, you name the negative indices, and it leads the rest of North America by a large extent.

Do I blame the RC Church wholly for this? Not neccessarily however, the RC Church ORGANIZATION in Quebec, I DO blame. They did little to encourage these people. Even today, instead of evangelizing, they take an attitude the the falling away of the faithful ‘is God’s will’.

Another way to look at it is that the amount of CO2 in the air went up one one-hundreths (0.01) of one percent.

“”When I take a lungful of air in this moment, it has 30 percent more carbon in it than when I was born,” Oregon Sen. Jeff Merkley,””

Which means he’s been breathing our air for too long! Let’s put Soylent Green into practice! Anyone who doesn’t like our air has a choice they can make - SHUT UP or just go somewhere else and die. How did he measure the 30%? Is he sure it’s not 10% or 25% or 28.9% or even 50%?

But the “filling stations” will not have the capacity.

Do you have any concept what power flow requirement are needed to fill up multiple batteries at the rate necessary to equal the driving range and fill time of a typical gas powered car?

15 gallons of gas is equivalent to about half (.495) a MWH. That means to fill an equivalent battery in 15 minutes you’d need to pump in energy at a rate of 2 MW per car. For a small 8 pump filling station that’s a capacity of 16 MW. We’d need that much electrical transmission capacity, or more, going to every filling station in the country.

The country’s entire electrical distribution system would need to be replaced from the ground up and replaced with one capable of orders of magnitude more power generation and transmission. Replaced. It is flat out not possible to upgrade the current system to meet that need.

Not going to happen.
