Former Broward County Deputy Scot Peterson has been arrested over his failure to do anything to stop the Parkland gunman during the February 14, 2018, attack. On March 15, 2018, Breitbart News reported on surveillance video that allegedly shows Peterson standing outside building 12 while the attack occurred. Then-Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel told ABC News the video showed Peterson “arrive at the west side of Building 12, take a position” but never go in.

Seventeen innocents lost their lives during the attack.

EXCERPT FDLE spokeswoman Jessica Cary said in an emailed statement, the investigation showed Peterson:
<><> refused to investigate where the gunshots were coming from,
<><> retreated during the gunfire as victims were being shot,
<><> directed other law enforcement who arrived on scene to remain 500 feet away from the building.

“The FDLE investigation shows former Deputy Peterson did absolutely nothing to mitigate the MSD shooting that killed 17 children, teachers ad staff and injured 17 others,” said FDLE Commissioner Rick Swearingen. “There can be no excuse for his complete inaction and no question that his inaction cost lives.”

According to the Broward State Attorney’s Office, Peterson is facing
<><> seven felony counts of child neglect,
<><> three misdemeanor counts of culpable negligence
<><> one misdemeanor count of perjury.

The investigation included 184 witness interviews, review of countless hours of video surveillance and resulted in 212 investigative reports and more than 800 hours of investigation, Cary said.

Peterson was arrested Tuesday afternoon after an administrative discipline hearing at the sheriff’s office headquarters on Broward Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale. If convicted as charged, Peterson could face a maximum of nearly 97 years in state prison. His bond has been set at $102,000.

Also terminated was Sgt. Brian Miller.“[Peterson and Miller] were found to have neglected their duties at MSD High School,” Tony said in an emailed statement.

The courts have already ruled that there is no obligation for law enforcement to protect anyone except for those who are under arrest or who are incarcerated.

Meaning this guy will get away with it.

They decided people hadn’t STFU about it as expected and needed to throw someone, anyone other than BJ’s wife’s buddy Israel, under the bus.

The police union and indignant blue family lobby will likely work it out so he quietly gets a retroactive paid vacation and full retirement.

You can teach tactics, you can’t teach courage. Some have it, he don’t. “Sorry kids I’ll just sit here on my thumb”.

USSC already in Castle Rock vs Gonzales already has rules cops don’t have to take action.

This is pure little girl ignorance by the DA.

He'd probably just charged for lesser or minor crime, i.e., dereliction of duty with lesser penalty or only slap in the wrist, or he'll get away with it if they'd charge him what we're hearing now.

I thought this idiot was ORDERED TO by his commander or that SOP dictated to not go in?

Thank God Israel is out of there. What a moron. Although, he was ELECTED. Shows why these same idiots elected both Wasserman-Schlitz and Israel.

Only an absolute fool would want a government that is swift to pass out punishments and laws. Our Founders knew better.

The root cause was the misguided discipline policies. This is a mistake to throw the book at him. The school resource officers have to work with these misguided policies. Who would want the job if they prosecute him.

I recall he waited outside until more law enforcement came. I also recall he was going to retire soon.

Until recent years, a job as a security officer at a school was a cushy job. He was waiting there to retire - nothing bad could happen to him, he was at a school, not on the streets where he might get killed. That has changed.
