Most of the Indian's repeaters were 32-40s a very light round suitable for hunting. The Indians were mostly armed with bows and arrows with the occasional rifle. The trapdoor rifle was quite good and there are a number of originals that still go hunting. They are still being produced for those who want them. After the battle the Trapdoors were upgraded with sights that would reach out to 1500 yards. The rifle could be used as an area affect weapon in order to reach out and touch the enemy early.

Take a look at RedMonqey’s post #81. He shot my Gatling Gun theory full of holes (pun intended).

Now lets see how many really know about that battle. I’ve been there.
On the monument are the names of those slain there. Among that list is a man who was NOT killed there, in fact, when he saw the monument he complained to the park management and showed his serial number. He was with the 5th Cavalry.
The park manager had him write to Washington and the response was...He was shown to be killed at LBH so he will have to remain killed there.
Who was he?

June 25, 1876..
My great-grandfather was born in 1868, the year Custer raided the tribes on the Washita. He was 8 when Custer was killed. He died in 1955.
Think of all he saw in his lifetime in which the US Government tried to move a stone age people into the Atomic age in one lifetime.

They must not be interested.
There are two reservations near here, and they both have casinos............

Custer was quite a success in the Civil War, becoming the youngest general officer in US history. Unfortunately, being reduced to a mere Lieutenant Colonel (My rank at retirement), he refused to acknowledge the reduction, wore stars on his uniform, and was a driven, vainglorious individual...a disaster, waiting to happen.
Of course, I didnt go to West Point.

poor, under-educated, alcoholism, few jobs. Really a pretty miserable place.

Then they have given up and unless they get some new leaders they will disappear.......

My guess: a very young George Patton, back when he was a drummer boy.
(Okay, I know that’s not possible. But it would have made one heck of a story.)

Not knowing the area wherever it is, do they have no minerals or oil that could provide wealth and jobs to the people?
Cattle, horses, sheep herds?
There must be something that they can do to help themselves..............

What if Superman worked for Custer?
The injuns would have killed him with a kryptonite tipped arrow.......
