In 2019, we cant afford to not get political, even with escapist entertainment. So even though Elizabeth Banks Charlies Angels reboot is a high-stakes, globe-trotting spy thriller comedy, she still made sure to send a message with extreme real-world ties within the story about female spies: Believe women.
Letting female rage express itself was one of the most important aspects of the new installment of the Charlies Angels franchise, Banks, who directed, wrote and co-stars, tells Collider along with a small group of journalists. One of the ingredients of this movie was supporting and believing women, she says. We literally have a character who is essentially working at a big corporation and is not being believed or listened to by her bosses.
Charlies Angels, starring Kristen Stewart, Ella Balinska and Naomi Scott as the new iteration of badass female spies, centers on Scotts character Elena when shes just a normal civilian as she hires the Townsend Agency to help uncover a sinister plot she discovered within a large tech company. Her journey towards becoming an Angel herself is the story of the new movie, set in the same world as the original 70s TV series, 2000 movie and 2003 sequel.
One of the statements this movie makes is that you should probably believe women, Banks adds. We have as much validity in what were feeling and how we want to go about living in the world, being in the world, and that was really important to me, that we felt like we had characters that were being taken seriously and given a chance to live their best life.

Didn’t Wonder Woman already say “believe women?”
or was it Supergirl?
Idris Elba as the leader
Michael B Jordan as the computer genius/hacker
Djimon Honsui as the PhD Chemist
Will Smith as the sassy ninja
Transphobes! Where is the “trans woman” in the cast?
For the angels, they should have: Christine Blasey-Ford, Anita Hill, and Tawanna Brawley.
For Bosely, Hillary.
That should help set the record straight to ‘believe women’.
Wonder Woman was actually decent. Probably Supergirl or Captain Marvel.
If they are sufficiently “jiggly” it might be watched.
If they demand the show reflects “their social consciousness”, it won’t be watched!
Russell Holmes said these women were really hot. So disappointed.
Who is Russell Holmes?
I believe women. Don’t you believe women? Why don’t you believe women?
p.s. I don’t believe any woman (or man for that matter) who says “believe women.”
I would say just from looking at the cast it will be better than GB2016.
Hollywood demonstrates again its a hollow shell!
If I want to see a TV show/movie that actually entertains, chances are I will be watching a TV/film from the “Hollywood Olden Days” or a foreign film.
No point in seeing the movie now.
Like there was before.
They tried a spinoff back in the 70s.
Except Juanita Braoddrick.
What kind of stupid baby talk is this?
“Women need to be believed! Yeah!”
She acts like this is in general but she’s just referring to the age-old rape stories in which it’s inarguably proven that women can and will use false rape stories as power leverage against both men AND women. (You might’ve heard of a popular one recently by the name of kavanaugh?)
If a woman has been raped she needs to take it to the police - not the HR department.
It will be as bad as the ghostbusters reboot.
All these years, we thought this was unjust....
None of those girls are up to it, sorry.
