I live in Missouri. We have Constitutional Carry laws here so I can carry any way I wish. I used to not be a fan of open carry. I felt like the bad guy is always going to take out the person who visibly has a gun. Also I felt like open carriers were "showing off".
Now I'm starting to feel differently. I usually tuck in my shirt but don't like IWB holsters. I can simply get to the gun easily if I wish to from my simple but effective Bulldog belt holster.
Is open carrying becoming more common? Do you open carry? If not, why not?
Nope. He'll just wait for them to come to him.
CA? Nope.
Here in Michigan Open Carry has been legal for decades but it was only in around 2001 where it came to light after Michigan became a "shall issue" state.
With that being said, I've only seen maybe 4 or 5 individuals openly carrying in the past few years.
As for me, I have a CPL permit but I'm not about to draw attention from any LEOs because somebody called them on........ I leave it in my car.
As a senior on crutches, open carry
makes it too easy to be disarmed by surprise.
I conceal.
I do...cross draw S&W Mod 15 when I’m in the US -eg out of Illinois. Also have a stinger 38 snubby in right front pocket in case someone tries to get cute and grab the OC (they’d have to know the retention system). As far as democrats making a scene over “a gun”.... n4ver had it happen at least in Arizona.

Why not?
And then there’s the fact that “open carry” *in one’s pocket* is hardly a responsible way of doing so, so there’s that...
Obviously his momma DID raise at least one idiot.
“Open carry is legal in CA.”
Only in unincorporated areas.
“I dont subscribe to the notion, though, that open carriers are more likely to be taken out by a perp. Most perps dont want to risk a gunfight they may lose, they just want to stick someone up for booze, cash and/smokes,etc. Most of them will simply move on to easier pickings.”
Exactly.
Open carry is tarded
I usually carry in an OWB holster for comfort. I also tend to wear clothes that tend to cover the weapon. Here in Indiana we don’t have a CCW we have a LTCH (License to Carry Handgun). I see open carry all the time and nobody gives those that choose to carry that way any mind. Doesn’t really matter whether you open carry or conceal carry just carry.
It also depends on the place.
I would love it if America was a place where you saw open carry everywhere you went, it would help keep people from growing up and freaking out over guns but you can’t expect people to do it in the heart of liberal territory right now.
I open carry when fishing or on my own property, otherwise Im concealed with my weapon. I actually see open carry a lot in eastern Kentucky, no one pays any attention to it unless you are in blissninny land of Lexington or Louisville.
I pocket carry a S&W snubbie all the time in a Mika pocket holster nothing idiotic about that.
There it is... Does the snake gave fangs or not? This question alone is a very very powerful deterrent when you know it is legal if you want to. It makes even those who do not want to carry at all much safer.
But at the same time there are pros for open carry, And it is also psychological. Making the brainwashed public feel comfortable seeing firearms as a common and normal thing has it’s long term cultural benefits also.
I’m in Az too and see that open opportunity all the time. Some folks should just not carry open because they have bad habits and open themselves up to others and the ability to take their firearm. Those need to conceal carry for sure.
Several of our instructors have all told us the same thing.
You want to be a target?
Put that damn Glock sticker or S&W sticker on your car.
Wear that gun outside & open carry like a show-off.
You’ll be the one they take out first and all that “ooh-rah” you thought you had will bleed out of you as your life ends.
Being the gray man is always best. Always.
