I live in Missouri. We have Constitutional Carry laws here so I can carry any way I wish. I used to not be a fan of open carry. I felt like the bad guy is always going to take out the person who visibly has a gun. Also I felt like open carriers were "showing off".
Now I'm starting to feel differently. I usually tuck in my shirt but don't like IWB holsters. I can simply get to the gun easily if I wish to from my simple but effective Bulldog belt holster.
Is open carrying becoming more common? Do you open carry? If not, why not?
Also if I had my perfect world, I would open carry a rifle. Can you imagine, being at work and having your rifle leaning next to you? Ah yea, true freedom, as the founders intended.
Open or Concealed. Personal preference.
Those talking about “getting the drop of the bad guy” or “not looking like a hard target” only sets you up to BE a target.
Look like food, get eaten.
You decide. What are your circumstances? What works best for you?
Do that. But, be armed...
I’m up to no good. You look like you are disarmed and an easy target...
That guy over there with the 1911 on his hip? I’m leaving his a$$ alone...
Yeah, the guy on the right even has The Tactical Flip-Flops going on.
Funny I agree, but with that being said, I would take tactical flip flops with a rifle over any handgun with choice footwear.
Direct corollary, Cops and Military are tarded...
Thanks for playing...
The open carry idiots ruined it in Kalifornia by being openly stupid and flaunting it to excess.

Yup. Open carry, even where legal, invites complications from the unwashed.
A trained eye can quite often discern whether someone is carrying a firearm whether or not an attempt has been made to conceal it. I am always on the lookout when I am out and about and I usually spot several people carrying concealed each week. The first "tell" I look for is clothing choices that are obviously chosen for concealment purposes. The second is in how they walk and purport themselves. The third is how they fiddle with their clothes ("don't pet your pistol"). I am sure that the criminal class is similarly always on the lookout like I am.
What many of us in pro-gun states who frequently carry eventually get to is a state of "casual carry". We make modest efforts to conceal our firearms but don't worry about whether it will be exposed. People who carry concealed weapons should act the same as if they are open carrying. You never know for certain that someone hasn't identified your firearm and is moving in to try and take it. Do whatever you are comfortable with. The most important thing is simply to carry.
What county in CA?
G-d bless the IDF.
There’s a time and place for open carry, such as in many outdoor situations. But concealed carry is probably the best default position. And it’s always nice not to ruin the surprise!
Bakersfield in Kern County, almost shall-issue.
My feeling is carry from morning till bed time. Till its so natural you can forget you have it or forget you dont. Then you act and move normal, and get mad when you forget it. More you carry less you pet it.
Thanks. I hear Kern county is one of the reddest/conservative of CA counties. We are building a house in Nevada County where, Im told, CCW permits are the norm... old mining traditions die harder than major leftist-controlled cities
Depends on what you are carrying.
I’ve never been able to conceal anything belt fed.
Yes, you won’t have any problems in Nevada County. Beautiful area. Lots to do if you like the outdoors. My dad is in Reno, NV, not far from there.
People do it in ou Walmart with no problem.
As for the screaming lady at Walmart?
She would be shocked to learn that about 5% of Americans have concealed carry permits.
And Florida tops the list where just about 10% of the population have concealed permits.
So, when she goes to a Florida Walmart about 1 in 10 customers can carry concealed & she won’t even know it.
Then, if course, there are those pesky Constitutional carry states.
