Dr. Kawas and her team of doctors and professors analyzed data from a long term study conducted at the UC Irvines Institute for Memory Impairments and Neurological Disorders. They dubbed this study the 90+ Study which has been following people over the age of 90 since 2003.
The research covered everything from daily exercise to sleep schedule to diet.
As a result, the researches concluded that people who drank two glasses of wine or beer per day saw an 18% drop in their risk of early death. On the other hand, those who exercised 15-45 minutes per day only saw a 11% drop. In other words, drinking alcohol is better for you than exercise for longevity of life.
Maybe I should have put this in “Breaking News.”

These studies are all a farce. They mean nothing one way or the other.
Yeah, seriously, the misleading headline should have said: Drinking alcohol is safer for the extreme elderly than exercise, recent study says.
That is completely stupid but, I will use this as “Settled Science”....

I learned this as a young Lieutenant in the 82d Airborne Division. Training was hard and hurt, a lot. Drinking off duty was fun and felt good. I put two and two together.
How about a case of beer every other day?
I disagree completely. Alcoholics primarily drink for the buzz/intoxication and the need to ignore what is going on in their life. A single drink a night won’t come close to that. What makes the urge for people to drink 4-6 cups of coffee a day, which probably has a bigger impact on you than one alcoholic drink a day? What makes people eat cheeseburgers, fries, nachos and never work out? Trust me, if they are on the path to becoming an alcoholic, it won’t be 1 drink a night, it’ll be 3 a night, then 6, then 12+.
Bummer. I read that wine is good for your heart health, so we buy it. We open it and forget to drink it. Then it goes bad and gets dumped. Will have to set reminders to drink more.
Is night hood a tea totaler expression. Inquiring alcoholic minds want to know.
Let’s say it is a glass of liquor some people need to get to sleep better.
ANYONE, and I do mean ANYONE who drinks two standard drinks per day is an alcoholic, and will eventually be having just two drinks on their “dry day”, eight on Saturday night.
Every week.
I can testify. Drinking can and will make you alcoholic.
And I’ve cut back now to once per week, never more than two.
Good advice.
Also don’t eat a lot of refined carbs or sugar just before a blood test. It will drive your triglycerides way way up.
