I read that most of the Patsy Cline songs you hear on the radio were recorded in one take. She would go in the studio and lay down the track in one take. Is there anybody out there that could do that now? What passes for talent these days is just auto-tune garbage.

Shawn Colvin is HUGELY underrated - very talented singer/songwriter - “Another Round of Blues” and her grammy winning “Sunny Came Home” - just extremely well crafted songs.

She did a duet with Alison Krause of Paul Simon’s “The Boxer” that is simply extraordinary.
As a solo artist, she’s made some exquisite albums including her “Covergirl” - an album of covers including a GREAT job on Tom Waits’ “Looking for the Heart Of Saturday Night”

She was one of the best.
The beautiful “The Tennessee Waltz” is one I remember as a kid.

Leon McAuliffe, who once played in Bob Wills' band also recorded
an instrumental version that charted in the final days of 1962.

My favorite version of
The Tennessee Waltz is by Pee Wee King & His Golden West Cowboys (1948). I also like the
the version by Lloyd "Cowboy" Copas from the same year. Both came out on the King label.
"Cowboy" Copas was killed in the plane crash that took the life of Patsy Cline.

Thanks. I just listened to it and it’s nice but doesn’t compare to Patsy, IMO.
I didn’t know about “Cowboy Copas” being killed in that crash. Thanks for the info.

Speaking of waltzes named for states, I also like
The Kentucky Waltz by Bill Monroe & His Blue Grass Boys (1946), which has a similar theme as the Tennessee Waltz.
I also like The Missouri Waltz by Eddy Howard (1946), but you won't hear it on any radio station today, for obvious reasons. The Fontaine Sisters' version, also from 1946, is more politically correct, so it might pass muster.

I just listened to it and its nice but doesnt compare to Patsy, IMO. No one can sing like Patsy. Her voice was unique.

I didn’t hear Jim Reeves voice.
