I have been working on a knowledge base of topics related to prepping and SHTF situations. It is geared towards making people more self sufficient with topics ranging from unarmed self defense to small space gardening to how to sew your own clothes. I'm one of those types of people who believe that we are going to go out with a whimper, not a bang, so there is a lot of content on how to do your own repairs, build your own stuff and live a more frugal lifestyle. In order to get access you need to send me a PM then I will give you a link and an access code. Once you're in you can find a directory list in each folder. You can download 1 file or everything there in one big zip file. You would need to have some basic book readers and, for 1 section, an MP3 player all which can be found for free. It's been up and running for 10 months now and plenty of people have visited it and lived to tell the tale :-) If you're interested send me a PM and I will send you the link and crypto key.
And don’t forget the defensive utility of the narwhal tusk ;)

Speaking of not forgetting the defense utility:
Consider a shotgun pistol. Like the Taurus Judge or S&W Governor. For a close range quick draw gun fight where the target shoots back, these are ideal for getting off the first 5 shots. Two pistols should be on your person at all times, one of these, and a more accurate semi auto 9mm or larger.
In a quick draw gun fight your first 1 or two shots may be no where near the target. That’s where the 410 bird shot load comes in for the first 2 of 5. Then the third, maybe fourth should be the 000 buck shot. Those four steel balls have a spread of about 8 inches at 50 feet. The fourth or fifth load should be 45 Cal Colt Long. This would be for a more well aimed shot.
The theory is the buck shot will sting and temporarily disable the opponent. At 50 feet my Taurus spreads all over our two foot wide target board.
For a 3 inch barrel it is reasonably accurate with 45 Colt rounds at 50 feet.
Thank you for the work you put into this database. I truly appreciate it.
Thanks.
This article is pretty thoughtful and deals with surviving a major earthquake in very cold conditions (AK in winter). While cold weather prep is critical to survival, lots of info in this article could also be applied to 'warmer' climes, such as the west coast. Preparing family members, making sure furniture & other items don't fall over (at least not easily - in 'the big one', the walls could come down), looking for safe places to shelter, know where your utility shutoffs are & how to shut them off (like gas), being able to survive if the house is uninhabitable, having clothing, food, shelter (tents, etc.) if none is available & you're on the street .... etc. etc.
I think this article is worth taking a look and modifying to your situation/location.
