Beef over Red Meat Advice Reveals Medical Corruption
Hawaii Reporter ^ | 10/03/2019 | Sydney Ross Singer

In case you haven’t consumed any health news recently, there is a big beef over research showing red meat is not bad for you. A huge study has contradicted decades of anti-red-meat advice, and the experts who gave that advice are red-faced and livid.

The new research was a systematic review of existing research, conducted by a team of interdisciplinary researchers with no conflict of interest. After eliminating many poorly done studies, and studies done on animals (which have unknown application to humans), the team concluded, “The panel suggests that adults continue current unprocessed red meat consumption (weak recommendation, low-certainty evidence). Similarly, the panel suggests adults continue current processed meat consumption (weak recommendation, low-certainty evidence).”

The problem is that this contradicts decades of research saying that meat, especially red and processed meat, is bad for health, allegedly causing heart disease and cancer. Virtually every medical organization has been telling people to stop eating meat for health reasons. What are all these experts going to do now that the research studies they were relying on for their recommendations were flawed and biased? Experts hate to be told they are wrong. After all, they are the experts, so who can trump them?

This study did. And the response has been anger from the medical community, a very unscientific response.

Big surprise! Leftist medical researchers are about as trustworthy as leftist "climate researchers"

Saying red meat is worse than white meat is racist.

Yes, I'm pretty much at the point of questioning a lot of what we've been told by "scientists/researchers" over the past few decades, particularly if there is an obvious Leftist bent to the org doing the "study".

****decades of research saying that meat, especially red and processed meat, is bad for health, allegedly causing heart disease and cancer.***

I remember the original tests done by scientists way back in the 1960s on grilled steaks. The found carcinogens in the meat! After taking their samples, they ATE the steaks.

Any “science” that is designed to alter behaviors - what you eat, how you act, what you drive, how you have sex...whatever...is agenda driven and should be taken with a grain of salt (which is also just fine for you).

I am 67 years old. If I want a burger, a steak, meat loaf, or any of the current sandwich meats available, I will eat that! Whether the cuisine be European, Asian, or good ol’ Americano!

Right! I mean how many prognostications by economic “experts” turn out to be correct?

I will not give up either steak or bacon. I'm going to die anyway, no matter what I eat, so I might as well enjoy my meals while I can.

All because Ancel Keyes had a theory about red meat and cherry picked / fudged data to support that theory and then systematically used his own celebrity (as did his followers after him) for decades to ruin anyone who dared question that theory. Research grants cancelled, publications that had printed different results invited Keyes to write prefaces saying the study was garbage, etc. Science? Forbidden! the stakes were too high to wait for data!

This is the foundation that the war on saturated fat was built on.

I’m pretty sure you can eat any food you want as long as you aren’t a glutton about it. Eating according to these health nut diets isn’t healthy. Your body will tell you what to eat.

>> Apparently, when we take years of bad research falsely showing meat is bad, and combine all these bad studies, it somehow provides a true result. <<

Well, yes. It’s called “significance.” Tests on 1,000 patients are more valid than tests on 100 patients. Tests performed 100 ways are better than tests performed 1 way. The problem is when only insignificant tests get thrown out, and only the ones showing significant results are paid attention to, it can create the false understanding that all the data agree, when in fact, only the data that agree agree.

1 Timothy 4:1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; 2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; 3 Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth. 4 For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving: 5 For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.

My Dad’s heart surgeon said pretty much the same thing...he said the bigger threat to Dad is anemia from too little iron and b vitamins, so eat steaks, burgers and liver and onions or fried chicken liver if that’s what it takes to boost soluble iron, it’s safer and easier on the stomach than supplements. My Dad’s arteries weren’t clogged with cholesterol they were clogged with calcium from him chomping on tums all his life- not all heart and artery conditions are from a fatty diet. He’s got great bones though...

All because Ancel Keyes had a theory about red meat

Like so many others who spent their lives telling the rest of us how to live our lives, he died at only 71. A lot of people on this forum would say he was just a youngster. The problem with “science” as it is practiced by those in fields where it is difficult to disprove their theories... is that it becomes a game of building consensus. The consensus view is almost always eventually proved to be wrong especially when money and politics becomes entwined in it. We are going to be 20 years into obvious increased measurable glaciation, iced over rivers, and severe crop failures before the leftists finally give up on global warming. Then they will blame global cooling on man.

I’m 70. My blood tests just came back. I am in perfect health. 70% or more of my diet is red meat. I don’t eat fruit except for fresh tomatoes in the summer and rarely eat any veggies.

It’s in your genes.

I’m 56 and had some serious health blips.

I did live like a Rock Star in the 80’s however.

I have: the iron pills, the b vits, folic acid, super d monthly, and other stuff, and yet ... every so often I am a quart low, and need a transfusion. My kidneys have reached an ‘8’, I have been told “CHF”, I have an ostomy, and ... I am still mobile, chief bottle washer, chef, trashman, and ... still living alone!
