I admit I watched the last 30 minutes of the Oscars after Thor:Ragnorak ended on another channel (my wife insisted). About 15 seconds into Joaquin’s speech, I hit mute as it looked like he was rapidly steering into a SJW lecture. A quick read of this article suggests it might have been entertaining to listen to him further. Seems he may have been drunk or medicated.
What a selfish POS. As I understand it he owes his career to a Hollywood agent who saw something in some kids raised by hippies. His brother, River, had more talent, but died young. But does he acknowledge anyone but himself? Just a long, rambling, nearly incoherent monologue all about me and why you are even worse.

The number of viewers who change their behavior to fit an Oscar winner’s opinions is quite low. It’s pretty much asymptotically zero.

A very good observation. The award went to Joker...so Joker accepted it, weaving in and out of Joaquin’s twisted reality. Note that he called himself a scoundrel, hard to work with...and if it wasn’t for acting, he’d admittedly be nowhere in life. There might be some guilt showing over the fame and success he has fortunately earned.
