I hope when the parents find out the kids get the lessons done in 3 hours that they’ll raise hell about why the school day is 7 hours long.

Home schooled children who are schooled by parents who make that choice do extremely well. Home schooling by parents who are forced will be a total fail.
The dems have to push home schooling bad because it does not fit their agenda. Unions.. free stuff.

Agree 100%.

BS. What I’m hearing is some parents, whose kids are now home from public school, are now thinking they should be homeschooling their kids .... all the time.

A relative of mine has recently made the decision to home school her kids (now 4 & 1.5) and has been surprised how many other parents with similarly aged kids want to do the same. I think they’re up to a group of 8 parents with probably 12 or more kids.

Years of research shows that online schooling is ineffective

Who sponsored these studies?

Both my wife and daughter are teachers at the high school level in different schools. Both schools had contingency plans in place before our shutdown. Both schools sent their students home with ChromeBooks the Friday before we were shut down on Saturday. Not long after, the largest ISP offered to supply free of charge WiFi hot spots to students that needed them. Both teachers received calls from their administrators to put the plans in place. Our family spent the weekend doing just that. Lots of adaptation of lesson plans. Messages were sent to students on Monday for a start on Wednesday.

Some students started early. Neither teacher was surprised by which students did this. Other students were MIA despite attempts to contact. Parents were contacted if students had not reached out by Thursday. Some parents cracked down on the non-performing students. A few still have not submitted any assignments.

My wife has been teaching for over 20 years. She has seen a big decline in work ethic and readiness for STEM subjects. This will be a life-changing moment for these students. The ones who are resilient and self-starters will succeed. The ones who goof off will take up the mantle of "victim" and will not do well in a competitive environment.

There is an urban legend about a college teaching assistant stapling Taco Bell applications to the homework of slackers... That is called "tough love".

Its good for the kids to be at home with their ma and pa, and the birds and trees, instead of the communist propaganda that is shoved down their throats.

Instead of the system of collectivism and it’s dark despair, they can taste what its like to be children again, and play like their in heaven, outside, feel the wind, and be kids again.

My wife homeschooled our oldest for a couple of years. It just wasn’t for her, but our kids didn’t lose anything by homeschooling. They graduated with honors in High School and Junior College.

I’m thinking many parents may have their eyes opened for the first time when they see what their kids are being “taught”.

Homeschooling during the coronavirus will set back a generation of children"

Yep! Maybe... However we need to retroactively set back the last 3 generations of mind-numb robots that government propaganda asylums have produced...

All the asylums should be burned to the ground to decontaminate the ground and surrounding area...
Fire all NEA members... Jail the leaders...
Dismantle the federal Department of Child Propaganda...
Force parents to take their offspring back from the government and take responsibility for their education...

Then begin rebuilding the former highly-successful American public school system that was eliminated in the 1960's & 1970's...

As I was reading this I heard a fire engine as if it was parading through the neighborhood, then heard car horns. I asked my wife if she knew what was going on. She said it was a nation wide thing of teachers contacting their students.
Talk about trying to staying relavent!
