Some likely scenarios:
►Increased willingness to trade freedoms for promises of security. At tax payer expense, what is left of them.
►Censorship of speech by private media against those who oppose the above, and the demonizing of such the MSM.
►Persecution and prosecution by the government against protesters of compelled COVID-19 restrictions. ►Prolonged food shortages.
►Increasing reliance upon government. ►Vast increase of a welfare class.
►A form of Universal Basic Income being promised and incrementally provided.
►Universal health care.
►Vast increase of the national debt.
►Substantial increase in taxes upon businesses and tax payers.
►Income disparity reduced as all become poorer and dependent upon the government, except for those in government.
►Increased trading of freedoms for promised security. ►Increased surveillance and tracking of people.
►Permanent restrictions on, and control of, movement and association and speech.
►Required government registration in order to purchase goods and for travel, and to be part of large public meetings.
►Increased restrictions on those marked as non-conformists, esp. those who oppose expresses disapproval of LGBTQ propaganda.
►Churches whose beliefs conflict with state-imposed speech and its restrictions padlocked or converted to state use.
►Increased use of robots, including for teaching children.
►Military conflicts with China.
►China flexing muscles and forcing a bruised and weakened US military to redrawn form contested waters.
►The MSM acting as evangelists for the above.
Backlash against government authority driven by disillusionment as people realize that the Plague was never all that deadly to people who aren’t elderly, obese, or ill.
That can’t be prevented, but getting ahead of it and trying to prevent it is the impetus for the Facebook and YouTube censorship going on.
That does appear to be the general direction we are headed.
Which leads to
Increased surveillance and tracking of people.
Increased restrictions on those marked as non-conformists, esp. those who oppose expresses disapproval of LGBTQ propaganda.
Permanent restrictions on, and control of, movement and association and speech.
People of all stripes, MAGA, antifa, snowflake, ALL together protesting lockdowns by STATE govt. Red states successfully opening up, blue states remaining locked down. Best possible visual. They aren’t hating on Trump, but on their own Democrat elected overlords. Beautiful.
I don’t see that in anyway.
I believe that we have narrowly avoided a peaceful coup.
Civil war may still be coming. Capitulation is now off the table.
Armed citizenry, even in Michigan? That’s not a recipe for a totalitarian makeover.
Mass unrest.
Food shortages.
Possible runs on banks when inflation really hits.
Possible Global war with China and Russia.
State lockdowns and restrictions.
States going after anyone growing food and meat.
One thing is for sure. Our enemies are watching, and what they see is a nation no longer willing to make sacrifices in the name of liberty.
That will not bode well for us in the long run.
We the People are going reopen American despite the leftist governors.
Our enemies are watching us. This pandemic has shown Americans to be unwilling to take the smallest amount of casualties and, instead, be willing to sacrifice much if it means "saving lives".
The opiate of the masses is free government handouts. The Feds have taken a big step in getting the populace addicted.
On the local level, certain states have awakened their citizens to the danger of power hungry governors.
Trump will catalyse the renaissance of the US economy, and it will soar to unprecedented heights.Truth will come out about the coup d'état, which almost succeeded. Those guilty of crimes will be prosecuted and imprisoned. The greatest scandal in US history will be exposed.
Democrats will continue to fight like gutter rats to extinguish the Light of Truth, but Trump will shine it glaringly upon them.
Under Trump's leadership, the USA will prepare for future epidemics and biological warfare as never before.
Democrats will continue their descent into the cesspool of hate, evil, anti-American propaganda, mendacity, and depravity.
Imagine what would have happened if a Democrat had been President during this crisis!
This is what the Democrats and their lackeys in the media dread to believe: President Trump is a genius, who is far above them intellectually and morally.
They are finding this harder and harder to deny.
One would expect TRUTH to begin to penetrate their denial, and it would if they were honest people.
They cannot allow TRUTH to shake the paradigms that they hold sacred. Their entire belief system would come crashing down.
To some extent, their hate is the fury of TRUTH threatening delusion,
But there's more:
Something that must not and can not be exposed is driving them--driving at least their leadership. There is something powerful and deeply threatening that they're hiding--whose disclosure would devastate, perhaps destroy them--and which they must defend no matter what the cost. This is why their desperation, their hate, and their determination are so fanatical.
Pray that TRUTH will come to light and reveal whatever it is that they are so desperate to hide!

The business elites are an utter mystery to me. I think we should be swapping over supply chains away from China to much more American manufacturing and trade with the UK and our fellow former colonies as well as Latin American countries and bright spots in Africa to aid in fending off Chinese encroachment. There are far too many things manufactured in China and marked way the heck up by various middlemen who have become our elite. We shouldn’t play that game as consumers. Deal with the Chinese in that case and starve out the greedy a-holes who are buying up the media and selling us all out. We need to be able to choose between where things are made and not simply where they are sold, because that is no choice at all. Yesterday I found an item on a Facebook ad priced at $90 and manufactured in China. I found the identical item from another source at $3. What I would like to find is the item itself manufactured in a non-communist country, other than buying vintage, that isn’t happening. Sorry to rant but I’m not really seeing too much movement. I’m trying to incrementally get going on my own small business now and Germany is becoming my new best friend. I have found affordable sourcing through some American manufacturers but this Covid thing is hitting everyone hard.
Also many Churches forced closed and underground Churches springing up across the country.
Starvation in some cities as food runs short.
A new more deadly virus is released by China.
One thing I fear is that China, or some other rogue nation, will see the effect this has had on our economy and try it again with some other virus. I say “again” because I’m not convinced that the corona virus was not deliberately released THIS time.

UNTIL the fraudulent models and stats were revealed and tyrants exposed themselves.
THEN, Americans took up arms and descended upon their oppressors.
MEANWHILE, the US government under the leadership of Donald Trump began to systematically withdraw all financial involvement with China (the perpetrator) while making their long-term plans explicit to the people, who now favor separation from China in every way possible.
We just exited the first 6-week free trial of global socialism. It did change minds and hearts.
People had no reference point before the lockdowns. They assumed that we would simply retain all aspects of America as they knew it, with some added perks like free health care, free college and maybe even a universal government stipend. The results of a kinder, gentler penal system are now all too visible in the blue sanctuary cities/states.
Of the 30% who welcomed that vision, perhaps 10% have been disabused of its benefits. The convictions of the other 70% have been reinforced.
I cannot foresee compliant Americans going forward. I foresee huge mass resistance and a realignment of the so-called independents.
I see the American people taking back their government as a result of the COVID debacle.
EVERYONE I have encountered who spoke of the situation during lockdown called it *crazy*. These were people I interacted with in either business situations or just casual contact. Some were neighbors. My friends were already in the 70%. Our extended families, who were in the 30% camp & live in blue urban areas, are silent.
But there’s more:

I believe there is so much future wealth and power at stake that will never materialize as the crimes and perversions of the elites is systematically exposed that they have no choice other than to fight tooth and nail for supremacy. Their current asset and power accumulations are also threatened. They have lost or are losing their status. Sunlight is flooding in and fresh air dissipates the stench.
They must fight or die.
I vote for die.
One area I hope POTUS sees can save $$$ is abolishing the Department of Propaganda ( aka Education )
Have proven kids can learn other ways, and all that time in State-sponsored k-12 childcare does more harm than Good
Send it back to the states
I see 2 possible scenarios.
Scenario A is that we continue to move down the curve and gradually open. By mid summer, except for mass gatherings at sporting events, etc. we should be getting back to normal.
Scenario B is what you describe.
Meek compliance into soft socialism entered into not with a bang but a whimper.
