Gallup has a high native american population, which seems to be vulnerable to covid.
White man have terrible record of interaction with Indians.
Gallup has a high native american population”
Yeah we spent a night in Gallup. While were eating dinner at one of the better restaurants you had to put up with a different NA coming to your table every 5 minutes or so hawking jewelry from a tray. It got real old.
Fat, drunk, and stupid is no way to go through life, son.
Unless one is, perhaps, a member of the Zuni tribe.
My wife is Mescalero and can’t stand them.
i can’t remember which blood type it was, but there was one that was shown to be more vulnerable to covid.
I remember it was a type more common in whites.
So it’s not outrageous to think one race might be more vulnerable than another, though the effect might not be huge

Not as high as McKinley County. Sounds like they are trying to protect Gallup.
Gallup NM is the Navajo capital.
Yes...Indian communities are a lot of things, but one of those things is NOT unsociability.
Indian kids I grew up with (and those today too) often talk to each other about "where are you staying now", not "where do you live?"
Communal, transient to a degree, always with an open door.
A game of playground basketball---even the dumbest Governor isn't going to take away tribal basketball entirely---probably means a lot of shouts, coughs, body contact.
So it goes.
Navajo tribe. I worked with two until a couple weeks ago. They quit because of whats going on in the Rez.
Here is another..that area is also known as the downwinders area.
The area where most of the fallout from all the Nevada tests floated over.
The Navajo Nation has been hit hard in AZ too. I don't have the numbers; just read about it in passing. They were desperate for masks because it was spreading so fast.
One wonders if diet and/or vitamin supplements make a difference and also if those on the Res come in contact with the germs and viruses non Res people do. It wouldn't be the first time Indians were badly affected by the white man's germs.
The rural areas of the Navajo Reservation are like a third world country. Most do not have electricity or running water. They haul water so they save every drop. Use one bowl of water for hand washing for all family members during the day. Share bath water too. Often several generations living together.
The Navajos that choose to live on the reservation generally do so to live traditional life. That lifestyle makes it really hard to deal with something like this virus.
