To quote Limbaugh, “Intelligence guided by Experience” tells me initial reports of any incident like this are rarely what they seem on their face.
It is best to wait for more info to come out before taking a position on this. Any white / black incident will always be portrayed as evil white / poor black by the media regardless of the facts.
It could end up that way in the end but, again, the facts may eventually prove otherwise.
Staking out a firm position at this point is just plain ignorant.

The drivers had already tried to cut off the ‘jogger’. The ‘jogger’ was being followed from behind and was in pursuit from the front. They said in statements they wanted to ‘talk to him’. There is no legal requirement for a person to stop and respond to someone who is following them. Sure, responding to the threat of someone who is armed from the outside might be perceived as the aggressor; the statements from the pursuers state they initiated the encounter.
What I do know is that the father is a former cop and is retired from the prosecutor’s office. On that basis alone I’m going to assume he’s guilty of murder.
I don't think "well, we thought he may be a burglar" is going to hold up real well in court.

I saw the video on yesterday’s evening news. The video showed the polar opposite of what the talking head described. The “jogger” charged at a man pointing a gun at him and tried to wrestle the gun away.
The story presented was that the two men, father and son, were trying to make a citizens arrest of the man who they claimed was responsible for a string of robberies, one of which they had just witnessed and were chasing the suspect. The 2 men might have been 100% wrong about the “victim”, and he may have been innocent. But he charged an armed man and tried to take his gun away. There is no way a jury is going to convict for murder with clear video showing the struggle.
The video shows the armed men in the pickup clearly waiting for Aubrey. Aubrey ran around the passenger-side of the truck, which had the driver’s door opened. There is no reason for these two yahoos to chase down the man when they should have called the police and let them handle it. He had nothing but running attire on and obviously no stolen property. The aggressors didn’t even see him do anything illegal at the time. Looking around a construction project isn’t grounds for chasing someone down with weapons. If two guys in a vehicle are chasing me, yelling at me, and obviously armed, I would do whatever it takes to not let them stop me until I reach police or a safe area. The video is pretty clear that it was unnecessary for this to occur. What a shame.
As someone else noted that the young man was struggling for the shotgun- I would have done the same thing. Who were these two yahoos out chasing him? They clearly weren’t in uniform or have badges to demonstrate authority. How was the jogger to know what their intentions were?
If the two men witnessed an assault or other crime, I would say that approaching him with weapons would be appropriate, but they didn’t.
Good! These Good Ole boys need a come uppence.

I agree with your first sentence. However the “encounter” was strictly verbal and was not physical until the runner suddenly charged the son and attempted to wrestle the shotgun from him.
You are misinformed. The “jogger” was a burglar who was only jogging in the video because he had been running full speed for 5 minutes before the video begins trying to avoid multiple residents who were chasing him. Nobody jogs in jean shorts that go below the knees. The black guy lived miles away from this all white neighborhood. He was a criminal who attacked these guys because he knew he was cornered. There is video of him inside a house in the neighborhood that was under construction. The original DA declined to prosecute having seen the video months ago. The media is lying.
