Contact tracing: the next authoritarian frontier

Oh, joy! “Contact tracing” is ramping up. Under the guise of concern for public health, contact tracing allows the left to continue their totalitarian advance, as the federal government leaves it up to states to develop these intrusive measures Contact tracing + tech overlords = We are tracking your every move, we know where you are, and we will deliver tyranny to your front door.

SNIP

Whitmer noted that it’s critical that people answer their phone for this to work and so you can be informed that you’ve had contact with someone who’s had contact with someone who’s had contact with someone’s who’s infected. But my guess is that if you don’t answer your phone, given what we’ve seen these past couple of months, they’ll come to your house.

SNIP

This entire affair should be deeply concerning for all Americans. Among other things, it’s rife with potential for abuse (and that’s assuming one thinks this entire ordeal is acceptable even if it’s not abused). Since the state won’t tell you how they came to you in the first place, it would be easy to target certain individuals who we can call, for the sake of argument, enemies of the state.

Up here in space
I’m looking down on you
My lasers trace
Everything you do

You think you’ve private lives
Think nothing of the kind
There is no true escape
I’m watching all the time

I’m made of metal
My circuits gleam
I am perpetual
I keep the country clean

I’m elected electric spy
I’m protected electric eye

Always in focus
You can’t feel my stare
I zoom into you
You don’t know I’m there

I take a pride in probing all your secret moves
My tearless retina takes pictures that can prove

I’m made of metal
My circuits gleam
I am perpetual
I keep the country clean

Electric eye, in the sky
Feel my stare, always there
There’s nothing you can do about it
Develop and expose
I feed upon your every thought
And so my power grows

I’m made of metal
My circuits gleam
I am perpetual
I keep the country clean

Protected. Detective. Electric eye

Thank you. Not being a techie, I did not realize that.

I appreciate the insight.

“Did you answer your phone survey”?
Was a question I got yesterday.
Never even knew about it with our phones off.

When I want to know about how the left wants to monitor citizens here in the USA, I look at what China does to monitor their citizens. I am sure the big tech companies will help the left here just as they helped the Chinese government. Do you know your social score? :)

Which just goes to show your ignorance. Contact tracing has been around a long time. It’s part of how we follows bugs around. There’s NOTHING new about this AT ALL. Whine and piss and moan all you want, this has been going on for decades and it will KEEP going on, because it’s useful, and saves lives.

It is not about the contact tracing. It is about the enthusiasm being shown for it by those who would abuse it the way they have abused the shutdown order.

Contact tracing, the vd snitch program of the ‘60’s and ‘70’s, regurgitated by those who cannot leave other people alone.

When politicians are implementing policies where long-term care facilities have to accept COVID19-positive patients, why would they implement tech into contact tracing except to infringe on the liberty of people that too many politicians consider to be subjects.

Sure, watch out for abuse.

But contact tracing is a proven tool against infectious diseases. Well established procedure that can be done without danger.

Trump will be blamed for deaths that contact tracing would prevent.

More important this disease seems to be no big deal if found early. If not, it seems to be a very big deal.

LOL! I posted that!

I think we’d agree the best contact tracers would be those most opposed to any abuse of the process.

“Israel’s original plan to track the phones of COVID-19 sufferers won’t get very far. The country’s cabinet has restricted the use of the Shin Bet security agency’s phone surveillance to “specific and special cases” where officials can’t determine an infected person’s location using “other methods.” The government might review the use of tracking if there’s a surge in cases.”

Not a fan of any of the cell phone tracking ideas. Or of this Gov’s “survey”.
Am a fan of real contact tracing.
