Shameless Vanity! I Need to Bring Monty Home From British Columbia. Any Ideas of How a Dog Can Hitch His Way Across the Country??
This pup is trying to get to New England to live with me. I know that sometimes people will let a pup hitch a ride to his new home. This is a 6 year old well behaved work dog and I am wondering whether anyone knows of a cross country driver, or group that might get him near New England or New York State. He is now in BC WAY up near Dawson's Creek which must be cold and NORTH. We are working on trying to get him into the States and over the border.

Is Monty a rescue? The two I follow have people who volunteer to drive legs to get the pup to his/her new home. See I’d there are any such transport orgs that can help.
Absolutely doable, but price may vary. Many services, none I’ve used or can suggest.

When I saw a dog fall into a drainage area they sent a team out to resume him. I feel they are far more effective than many animal rights entities.

Try an ad on Craigslist.
I have shipped many dogs.
I have never had a dog that any airline would ship for free.
Delta is currently the best shipper of dogs.
You will need a health certificate from a VET.
I will cost around $300 to ship to Boston or Manchester, NH.

Hmm, I am no expert, but I imagine you would need to fit the dog with some kind of prosthetic thumb to facilitate hitch-hiking.
A lot of rescue organizations have a dog railroad. They post the point of origin and then people volunteer to pick them up, drive part way, then hand them off to the next volunteer. Check Facebook or check with your local rescue groups

There must be someone driving coast to coast who likes dogs
Talk to the rescue to see if they have transporters. They are mostly volunteers and the rescue asks if people can take the dog on certain legs. I know the coonhound rescue I follow does this and for distance, they actually have a volunteer who flies and will transport distances. I know several of our hounds have ended up in Canada.
this is a woman who is a breeder who needs to place this dog, I am not buying it, just pick up its healthcare costs, and we both would like the dog to come here. It does seem insurmountable.
