Special Dispatch to the New-York Times. CLIFTON HOUSE, NIAGARA FALLS, Sunday, Sept. 16 -- 11:20 P.M. Since the arrival of the Royal party, the Prince has enjoyed himself in an unaccustomed round of pleasurable excitements. At sunrise on Saturday the Royal standard was saluted by a Hamilton artillery company. At 10 o'clock a large yacht was set adrift in the rapids above the Falls, the Prince having expressed a desire to see something go over. The image of a man was placed at the helm, besides which no other passenger was allowed on board. A ride on horseback, a frolic with the little ZIMMERMAN children and a tour of the park comprised the doings of the morning. BLONDIN having invited the Prince to witness his perilous undertakings, announced an exhibition at 4 o'clock. The Prince and suite went on horseback to see him, and occupied a rustic lodge, surrounded by the French flag. There were present several thousand spectators, who thronged both sides of the river, and entirely blocked the passage of the bridge. Having gone through his usual performances, standing on his head, carrying a man across on his back, making believe stumble, turning sommersaults and scaring almost every one, BLONDIN announced to the Prince that in his honor he would do what had never before been done in public -- cross on stilts. The Prince remonstrated, and said he was entirely satisfied and did not wish him to endanger himself on his account, but BLONDIN re-assured him, and finally offered in the most gentlemanly way to carry the Prince over, and had it not been for the Duke there is no telling what might have been the result of the interview.

I did not know that there was an Epstein Island back then.
Edward was the eldest son of Queen Victoria and at the time of the 1860 visit (prior to Canada becoming an independent nation), he was the Prince of Wales. He had to wait until 1901, at age 60, until he succeeded his mother and was crowned King Edward VII. He died in 1910.
The current Prince Charles is 71 and has been next in line to the throne since 1952. Queen Elizabeth has been on the throne for 68 years, 5 years longer than Queen Victoria.
