I think we just heard the political version of this speech

Trump's speech reminded me a lot of this address by Patton to the Third Arm.

3rd arm? I didn't know Patton was into Hindu dieties.

Americans love a winner and will not tolerate a loser. Americans play to win all the time.

An uncanny resemblance of personalities;
uncanny as well the arrival of them on scene in a mument of extreme national peril.

Could only be divine reprieve/intervention.

Our family, thankfully, has only ONE person who lives in fear, over this evil China Flu.

Needs a similar national address when he’s ready.

George C. Scott wasn’t pleased with the placement of this scene at the start of the film...he felt it belonged in the middle of the show. When he saw the final result, he admitted he had been wrong.

And the stress of their fear is dragging down their immune system! Silly! My mom had agoraphobia and I swear she collected danger. She loved to talk about it. Thank God I’m free of all that.

You credit this to Patton. What you post should be credited to Coppola. As spoken by Scott.

It was close to a compilation of speeches made by Patton. But not what he actually said.

If you watch the movie, you’ll note how reporters really haven’t changed over the years, especially the one smarmy reporter who asks Patton if he’ll slapping anymore soldiers in Malta.

George C Scott praying Psalm 63 before having to apologize to the 7th Army. Burned into my mind. One of the most important religious experiences I ever had.

You got that right. Trump’s personality is very similar to Patton. Both said things that sometimes pissed people off; both did not care if it pissed people off; both were skilled strategists; and both loved the thrill of competing on the battlefield to defeat their enemies. Thank God for these men.

Patton gave a speech very similar to the movie to troops in England. My grandfather was one of those troops.

Didn’t I just write that? Coppola took the speeches (there were a bunch of them) and consolidated them. He did a good job. That was not my primary point.

My point is that MOST people around today are not enthralled with Patton. They are enthralled with George C Scott, reading Francis Ford Coppola’s words, as Patton. In a big Hollywood movie. Most people today, could not tell you that he was a poet, an inventor, and an Olympic athlete.

And the funny part is...they don’t even realize they are idolizing a movie, a write, and an actor who would not agree with almost anything they stood for today.
