February, as it has been for the past 45 years, is Black History Month, bringing the contributions of Black ingenuity and the civil rights movement to classrooms and TV screens across the United States in honor of the birth month of both Abraham Lincoln and Frederick Douglass.
But the 2021 version, following a summer of Black Lives Matter protests and the election of the first Black woman elected vice president — amid the ongoing pandemic and its disproportionate effect on Black Americans — feels different.

Why not make it Black History Year? Decade?
Black history is history. Singling it out is the epitome of racism. And for folks like me, the month long drumbeat just repulses me.

I don't know which month is "Hispanic History Month" or "Caucasian History Month" or "Asian History Month".
I say we go with "American History Month" and bring this country together again instead of always dividing it into different groups with their own agendas.
It’s the annual ringing of the Bell Curve; despite the best efforts of history revisionists, it remains a bit out of tune.
There are lists of ‘inventions’ circulated on social media attributed to blacks that are misleading or flat out fantasy. It’s disheartening how many drink the swill with no thought. Yes, blacks have made contributions to the betterment of the human condition, but the exaggerated or invented claims undermine their true place in history.
I think we need a Polish History Month.
When do we get Hispanic month?
Asian month?
Midget month?
LGBT month?
Martian month?
Anything but white month...
The only reason blacks have not won all the Nobel prizes for physics, chemistry and biology is because white people are racist.

By the way, my real problem with any history month, week or day, black, latino, woman, or other group of people, is that it causes history to be distorted and to be taken out of context. It is a false history and often times a fabricated history to make some group of people feel undeservedly special.
The racists gave Black History Month the shortest month of the year! How racist is that?!?

Yes, we're aware that martin king was a civil rights leader. We're also aware his drinking was getting worse and worse, and that he had a penchant for beating young white prostitutes. He was also declining in popularity when that idiot james ray made him a martyr.
