The sun may offer key to predicting El Niño, groundbreaking study finds

The key to this proposed solar-weather connection lies in “terminator” events, which spell the end of a solar cycle. Over the course of 22 years, bands of magnetism wrapping around the sun slowly migrate toward the equator, interacting with one another to produce sunspots. Those sunspots, or cool, dark discolorations on the sun’s surface, pulsate with magnetic energy, occasionally hurling it into space in solar storms that can spark displays of the northern lights.

There are two bands of magnetism per hemisphere on the sun. At solar minimum, both sets of bands are of equal and opposite strength, so the sun’s magnetic output flatlines. That drop changes the sun’s magnetic field, resulting in a decrease in the number of cosmic rays hitting Earth’s upper atmosphere.

Leamon explained that the flip from El Niño to La Niña usually comes a couple of months after a cycle’s terminator. Since the terminator event is associated with a drop-off in cosmic rays, Leamon thinks the triggering mechanism is electrical in nature.

But that’s where things get hazy — namely because Leamon and his colleagues have yet to establish an understanding of how a change in electrical field would influence the oceans and induce a La Niña.

The science is “settled,” at least until there’s a “groundbreaking” study.

The solar cycle climate model is 93% accurate at predicting present-day climate based on historical climate data.

https://nextgrandminimum.com/2018/11/22/professor-valentina-zharkova-breaks-her-silence-and-confirms-super-grand-solar-minimum/

No climate “scientist’s” computer model comes close to that degree of accuracy and never will because of the impossibility of knowing and mapping an infinitely infinite number of initial conditions at a precise moment in time.

https://wattsupwiththat.com/2016/09/04/chaos-climate-part-3-chaos-models/

The only reason climate “scientists” don’t use the solar cycle climate model is because it doesn’t give them the result they want; global warming.

And when the science changes the announcements read: “You (the public) were wrong about sunspots.”

Huge determinant factor for the earth’s temperature. Global warming is TOTAL BS. IT’S THE SUN, not soccer moms driving SUVs. THE SUN says are heading for COLDER TEMPERATURES.

Yeah! Its the sun doing it! The sooner we put it out, the sooner things will return to the optimum climate!

You only need look to the source of ALL our energy, Sol.

Whether we harvest it in realtime with solar panels or wait million of years for photosynthetic residue to turn into oil and gas we can burn, the Sun is the source of all energy.

And when the science changes the announcements read: “You (the public) were wrong about sunspots.”

It's all a sort of rhetorical escalation of the degree to which they play with your mind with symbols, a virtualization of the real world.

Perhaps it started with the "wind chill factor," followed by the "real feel" temperature of AccuWeather, itself followed by The Weather Channel's "feels like" temperature. When it's warm, the temperature is warmer than warm, and when it's cold, the temperature is colder than cold.

In the world of symbols, reality is a construct, and there's no limit to the amount of deception (or — more benignly — "virtualization") that is possible.

For some years now, we've been seeing this concept extended and abstracted into the political arena, where the Left is using it to have all kinds of fun, while the Right is just barely beginning to notice it, let alone figure out how to deal with it.

Interesting!

Some also suspect that solar cycles are also a significant (and neglected) driving force for global climate change albeit a different but similarly named cycle.... Cyclic changes in the orientation and shape of Earth’s orbit around the Sun every 20,000 to 100,000 years affect climate (earth’s orbital wobbles). The Washington Compost only realizes the massive strength of the Sun when it fits their socialist narratives.

The Sun just can’t be the major reason for “ climate change “, now can it ?

I remember when “El Niño” became a byword for terror back in the 1980s.

An early fall snow storm had just hit parts of Colorado, Kansas and Nebraska. Eight hundred miles to the south East, our local weather girl was standing outside in the dark in an empty parking lot and said....

“The question that is on everyone’s mind...”(then with a look of terror on her face said...) “IS THIS EL NINO?”

I wanted to throw a boot at the TV.
