The Iconic Darwin's Arch in The Galapagos Is Gone Forever After a Collapse

The top of Darwin's Arch, the famous natural stone archway in the northern Galapagos Islands, has crashed into the waves, according to news reports.

The arch, located less than 0.6 miles (1 kilometer) off the steep and rocky coast of Darwin Island, collapsed as "a consequence of natural erosion," on May 17, the Ecuador Ministry of Environment and Water wrote in Spanish on Twitter.

The natural arch was named for the English biologist Charles Darwin, who studied evolution in the Galapagos during his voyage aboard the HMS Beagle in the early 1830s.

Now that the arch's top is gone, one tour company, Aggressor Adventures, is calling the two stone monoliths that remain "The Pillars of Evolution," CNN reported.

“Not global warming?“

Of course it’s global warming. Everything is global warming.

geological evolution

No argument there...in fact the entire universe is always changing, but not for the better. Like the arch that crumbled, the natural direction of evolution is towards ENTROPY.

No doubt the weight of the bird poop broke it.

The seagulls might be a little confused and cast suspicious looks at the fat ones.

The weight and corrosive nature of bird droppings over centuries may have spelled it’s doom. The photos show very large amounts of it.

Can’t we blame this on the Israeli oppression of Palestinians?

....and given enough time and chance...it could evolve back to what it was just a few days ago...seems impossible but with wave, geothermal, cosmic rays, infrared, and sun energy it could overcome 2nd law of thermodynamics...just give it enough time and the impossible becomes probable...

Damn, that water looks rough!

collapsed as "a consequence of natural erosion,"

Not global warming or systemic racism this time?

Wait a minute, have not rising sea levels covered it up yet? Partially? Or are rising sea levels a localized vent?
