The auditors were loud mouth punks going around every day

I've been watching a lot of their videos this past couple of weeks. Some of them are legitimate body cam videos taken by the cops who were obviously abusing their authority but the others were the punks going out of their way to instigate a violent reaction from the officers.....

These videos aren't doing a damn thing but stirring up hostilities towards the law enforcement community.

When officer tough guy exits the SUV, at about halfway through the video, note how small he is. I’d bet the rent the cop is suffering from, “Little man syndrome”.

Btw, this cop is done and he probably never should have been hired in the first place.

In California it is now explicitly legal to video record in public and the fact that someone is video recording in public does not constitute probable cause or suspicion to justify an unfriendly police intervention.

CA PC 148(g): “The fact that a person takes a photograph or makes an audio or video recording of a public officer or peace officer, while the officer is in a public place or the person taking the photograph or making the recording is in a place he or she has the right to be, does not constitute, in and of itself, a violation of subdivision (a), nor does it constitute reasonable suspicion to detain the person or probable cause to arrest the person.”

And if the cops VIOLATE THE LAW and screw with someone anyway then what happens next is all on them. And I really don’t care if it’s an auditor, reporter, or an average citizen simply recording the cops doing their job.

The motivations of the citizen exercising their rights is not my concern nor should it be yours. It’s irrelevant.

All that matters is that the police are not supposed to violate anyone’s rights yet they do. Auditors bring attention to this fact and if the police stopped acting like a criminal gang then there’d be nothing for the auditors to do, am I right?

Likewise with open carry, if it’s legal then the police need to stop messing with law abiding people who open carry. It’s that simple.

The camera guys were being jerks, actually major a-holes...but your post is correct. The cop lost his cool and did not handle the situation correctly at all.

“The camera guys were being jerks, actually major a-holes...but your post is correct. The cop lost his cool and did not handle the situation correctly at all.”

From what I saw of the video the camera guys were just fine until Officer Dipshit rolled up on them with an attitude. He expected that his needlessly aggressive behavior would result in deferential and submissive behavior from the targets of his attention and when he did not receive the expected result he escalated.

Now imagine he’d pulled up and parked his car properly instead of parking askance as a demonstration of cop privilege. Then imagine him stepping out and politely introducing himself and asking the guys what was going on.

You know, just like the great sheriff in the 2A video you shared.

Then there’d be no video and Officer Dipshit would not be facing termination and probable civil rights charges and possible assault charges. Not to mention the later off-video false arrest coupled with retaliation against a citizen filing a police complaint.

That last bit is going to justify dragging this case into Federal court where the local department is going to get hosed. And properly so.

All because some hothead can’t control himself when people don’t bow and grovel before the magnificence of his flashing lights and shiny badge.

As for open carry ….. there is a difference between open carry with a Glock 19 on your hip and walking into a Walmart with an AR or AK. I’m trained that when I see something on someone’s hip or ‘printing’ under their shirt I pay attention to it. 95% of the time it’s an iPhone. Sometimes it’s not.

Most people are so oblivious that they wouldn’t notice if you or I were walking down the aisle with a 1911. But they would notice you walking into the store with a rifle. The rights are the same. I get that.

But even a little courtesy to your fellow man, goes a long way.

I would have to watch the video again, It was noted in the article and what I saw in the video was the two camera guys being jerks, but maybe I missed something. Regardless, there are not laws against being jerks. As I stated earlier, the cop did not handle himself well. He deserves to be disciplined.

And since when to, “Detectives” respond to such non-emergency, minor calls such as someone PO’d being videoed?

About 12 years ago, I started my own local newsblog to cover local government - city council, school board, county commission, trials, etc. Since that time, the cameras in public buildings have proliferated like mushrooms. Court houses, city halls, etc.

I thought to myself, instead of THEM watching US, it should be the other way ‘round. After all, WE pay them. They’re our employees. We need cameras in the mayor’s office, school classrooms, courtrooms to make sure they’re doing their job.

I also thought once the public began filming government, they wouldn’t like it one damn bit. The auditing movement has made that point in spades. I watch them all the time.

What’s obnoxious and aggressive? Not telling a cop you have no intention of talking to him.

Watch out for those taking the cop’s side in situations like this.

I have a high school buddy who was a long-time police officer, now retired, in a small and wealthy but mostly rural NE Ohio community. He’s confirmed that the profession can attract bullying types. And today that may in fact be the main type it attracts since recruitment has become so difficult. He said that twenty years ago if they had an opening the department would receive dozens of applicants and could be selective. Now it’s difficult to get even one.

“But even a little courtesy to your fellow man, goes a long way.”

Courtesy is not a one-way street.

And if open carry is legal (as it is in a growing number of places) then the umbris of courtesy lies with those who object to lawful behavior.

I visited a buddy of mine in Vermont some years ago and he had a Kimber .45 on his hip and a Remington 700 SPS slung. We went to a local café and there were local cops present at one table and state troopers at another.

No one gave my buddy a second glance.

Now if Wal Mart wants to ban open carry they can. That’s their right. But if it’s allowed then it’s allowed and the umbris of courtesy falls on those who would object.

It was like gravity was pulling the cop towards the cameraman.

Get the guy with the camera first, THEN take care of business. Self preservation.

Audit the Audit

This is a great YouTube channel that goes over police interactions.

Because of over-enforcement of "crimes" that are actually sins.

“Did you really think we want those laws observed?" said Dr. Ferris. "We want them to be broken. You'd better get it straight that it's not a bunch of boy scouts you're up against... We're after power and we mean it... There's no way to rule innocent men. The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren't enough criminals one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws. Who wants a nation of law-abiding citizens? What's there in that for anyone? But just pass the kind of laws that can neither be observed nor enforced or objectively interpreted – and you create a nation of law-breakers – and then you cash in on guilt. Now that's the system, Mr. Reardon, that's the game, and once you understand it, you'll be much easier to deal with.”- Ayn Rand, Atlas Shrugged

They’ve studied these laws inside and out and know exactly what they can get away with

If something's not a violation, there's nothing to "get away with".

A civil rights lawyer is gonna have a field day with that.

In small communities if the Detective is in the area or not busy they’ll respond.
Also as a Sgt. he was suppose to take control of the scene……LOL well that didn’t work out.

Very interesting.

Yep, I recall the rebuke for body cams (Unions) on cops at first………they changed their tune when Dash Cams saved a few cop butts a bunch of times.
