NJ plastic/paper bag ban goes into effect May 4th

As of Wednesday, cashiers at the store will no longer be bagging bottles for them, though they might supply empty boxes when available. All New Jersey retail, grocery, and pharmacy stores, along with restaurants and other food service businesses, are banned from giving out single-use plastic bags, as well as foam containers, though there are some exceptions.

What about switching to paper bags? Supermarkets can no longer provide those either.

“We have long-term customers that still probably don’t know there is going to a be a bag ban,” Millington said. “So we’re trying to educate everybody as they come in. Right now, we do a lot of bags for wines and anything we sell.”

I guess common sense littering laws are off the table? Just ban everything....BTW, what’s next? Snacks in single use plastic can’t be sold? Bags of potato chips? Bags of fruit? More “can’t comply your way to better times”.

Makes a lot of sense. Thin paper or plastic bags no good. Thick heavy cardboard, that’s ok!

Laws like this cause some people to deliberately pollute just in spite.

I have been using plastic bags as a fake wasp nest. Seems to be working so far - probably until they get used to it. Works for the paper wasps. Not sure yet if it works for the yellow ones. Put one out on a flowering tree this morning. We will see.

I have collected tens of thousands of plastic bags and will be releasing them into the environment to choke whales and clog streams and take up landfill space. Join me.

Slowly but surely even California is moving away from stupid Covid rules.

For about 1.5 years, we couldn’t (BYOB) bring our own bags into a store.

Since the first of the year (BYOB) has prevailed. I bought 4 nice and sturdy bags @ $1 per bag, and they stay in our vehicle after we unpack that day’s purchases at home.

When do the folks yell that they have had enough of the government controlling their lives in every little thing they do? Answer, never. Most have been conditioned to accept every loss of freedom that the government imposes on them. And like stupid sheep they accept it.

biden’s “disinformation” gestapo will be looking for the people who don’t accept it, and who complain about it.

I hope you realize there’s more coming after this, don’t you? This is only the start. More on the way. They ain’t finished with us. How many more ways can I say what they plan to do?

I can think of no better way to spread disease than for people to use recycle bags which they put in the trunk of the car, on the floor, then return to the grocery store and put on the conveyor belt to be picked up by others.

My elderly parents are in NJ. I left them some reusable bags in March. This will be a hard transition for them.

Democrats like Phail Murphy show their idiocy and sociopathy, trying to force customers to reuse filthy bags and spread bacteria on surfaces at the cash registers for the following customers to bring home and get themselves and their families sick. As if spreading COVID-1984 wasn't bad enough.

Are these the same people that are always talking about the old way of doing these, except when that way involves the slightest personal inconvenience ?
