Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) on Friday signed a $1.2 billion tax relief package, the largest tax relief package in the state’s history, which, in part, makes key baby items tax free for one year.
The governor signed what he described as the “largest tax relief in the history of the state of Florida,” giving relief to millions of Floridians on key items that have skyrocketed over the course of Biden’s presidency. That includes “really critical needs like gas, diapers, disaster supplies, tools for skilled trades, [and] recreational activities.”
“Families are going to be able to save for things that that really matter for them,” he said, first announcing specific tax relief for baby items.
“Diapers, clothes, and shoes for babies and toddlers will be tax free for one year, beginning July 1, 2022,” DeSantis said. “Children’s books will be tax free, for three months starting May 14 and that will go through August 14 leading right into the school year.”
Indeed, the sales tax exemption period on children’s diapers, as well as baby and toddler clothing, apparel, and shoes, will run from July 1, 2022, through June 30, 2023.
“During this sales tax exemption period, tax is not due on the retail sale of children’s diapers or on baby and toddler clothing, apparel, and shoes primarily intended for children age 5 or younger,” the TIP sheet reads.

I think it might have to be legislated in the regular budget. There’s certainly the possibility.
I don’t think that’s enough to change a vote...but an idea in the works. Let’s see what happens.
Thats all we ever used, cloth diapers. Rinse out in toilet, then into a covered bucket with bleach solution , and when accumulated, into the washer and out onto the clothes line. Have enough to do you for 3 days, and do laundry twice a week.
My family made them out of white cotton flannel material and still do. We just can’t pay 200 bucks a month or more for disposable diapers.That money goes into the bank.
In a year, you’ll be lucky to have a smooth rock and a polluted stream to warsh your clothes in

I remember my mother doing the same with cloth diapers. Same production line including the bleach and (when we had one) a washing machine.
She also bleached dishcloths. Which I was surprised to learn that not everybody does - reusing dishcloths without bleaching between uses is very unhealthy.
