Ryan from Fortnine is one of the best bike personalities aside from Bikes N Beards. Holds a Physics background so he explains on his videos how an engine works so he does simplify the science behind motorcycles for each of Fortnine's videos..(meaning go back to your Physics high school class lol)

I own a 09 Road King. Speed is not something I’m particularly interested in. It has enough power to get me out of the way when I need it to. Otherwise, I don’t really care. I don’t care what other folks ride. Ride what you like! Two-wheels good. Four-wheels bad!
Oooh...Nice! :-)
Shorter stroke. More rpm. Less low end torque. More peak power. Same as it ever was.
People dont buy HDs for high performance.
“People dont buy HDs for high performance.”
NO, they dont LOL. I didn’t for mine. That’s why I own Yamaha’s too. I knew what I was getting into. We are paying for the SOUND which HD hilariously, tried to patent and failed..
My brother has a KLR. It's just awful. Good luck going uphill. Just underpowered as all heck. He should have bought a V-Strom.
But as it pertains to this thread, I find myself riding my Scout moreso than either my Dyna or Sportster (1250 conversion). It has so much more top end zip, however it doesn't corner any better than the other two.
I’ve owned both an ironhead sporty and a fatbob shovelhead. Both were loads of fun. Currently I have a Triumph Tiger 1050 which I totally love. Except for buying batteries every year or two. Lol. The Brits just have to have electrical issues. It’s in their DNA.
I still miss the sporty. With a porting job and S&S carb it easily outran the 1200 sportsters. And few bikes sound as good as a sporty with decent not-too-loud exhaust. The old straightcut cam gear whine only added to the experience.
I have a 170cc SYM scooter, a 2007 Honda ST1300 and just stumbled over a 2004 Electra-Glide with only 6,000 miles for cheap money. I live on the west coast of Florida. It’s heavy traffic and straight, flat roads near the coast, so the scooter is the perfect urban assault vehicle for that purpose. The ST1300 is ridiculously fast and reasonably comfortable, but I sold it yesterday.
The bat wing fairing, radio, saddlebags, tour pack, comfy seat, floorboards, heel-toe shifter and low seat height make the HD the one I always prefer for the inland and long distance rides. It was clear that the ST1300 was going to sit and gather dust. I sold my last Electra-Glide in 2015 and bought a Goldwing. It was a great motorcycle but bored me to tears.
The HD is also a tinkerer’s toy, just like guns and guitars. So I’ll be putting along at 75mph instead of 110 on the county roads in inland Florida and will still feel fresh after 700 mile days on the interstate farther north.
If pushrods are good for performance, the Ford Mustang engineers didn’t get the memo. Because they make *760* ‘go-ponies’ on less than 350 ‘cubes.’
Harley sales are tanking, too.
