They forget the fried chicken and little basketball toys for kids....
What next?
A cotton picking contest?
Very funny. I’m always correcting people in interviews bc there is no V in brother.
So is the fact it was the GOP army that announced to the democrat owned slaves that GOP President Lincoln had freed them during the Emancipation Proclamation in 1863.
The day of the Emancipation should be the day that is celebrated.
But libs don't want to recognize the real history here. They're trying to make out like the dims freed their slaves. LOL!
It will never be a real American holiday until it has an identifiable character to embody the event. Christmas has Santa Claus, Fourth of July is Uncle Sam. St Patrick’s Day has a leprechaun, Thanksgiving has the turkey, and Easter has the bunny. What sort of symbol could represent Juneteenth?
that's how this southern white boy eats it!
Bring it on!!
And without asking I know the tea is sweet tea...because there is no other.
Don’t forget the corn bread.
St. Floyd of Fentanyl?
I realize that, was just curious if that was the same credit union I used when I was stationed in Montgomery.
Yes it is.
After some new law expanding access to civilians, they expanded and now have branches all over Alabama...
Back in the old days, we Baby Boomers celebrated Father’s Day on this weekend. Younger people nowadays hate Father’s Day, so it’s no surprise that they’ve cast a shadow of hatred over it.
Father’s Day in the US is like a ‘moveable feast’, celebrated on the third Sunday in June. It’s not June 19 every year, any more than Thanksgiving falls on the same date every year.
‘Juneteenth’is going to move up a day every year, and won’t always be celebrated on a weekend or long weekend, or coincide with Father’s Day. (July 4 is the same. We don’t always get a long weekend for that, either.)
LOL! I remember some Bill Mauldin political cartoons of George Wallace eating watermelon and relishing it. The melon represented the votes he got in the 1968 election before he was shot.
George Wallace was shot? Yikes!
Mamma called unsweet tea “plain tea” she drank it plain except for a tiny pinch of the “pink packet” which was Sweetener.
BS. Everyone loves watermelon, no matter the race.
HISTORY: Not all slaves were freed by the Emancipation Proclamation, nor via Juneteenth. Only the slaves of the REBEL states were freed then. Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation was a wartime effort to split and weaken the South; he did NOT free any slaves in the Northern states. Slaves in the non-rebelling border states had to wait for the 13th Amendment, effective December 18, 1865.
