I would watch bowling if Sean Young was in it.

I very much enjoyed the most recent version. And I thought that gal was quite attractive.
Some people didn’t really like it, but...I enjoyed it.

"...the Greatest Sci-Fi of All-Time" Clear of example of overstatement on Tom's part!
IMHO...
It was an excellent movie with an excellent lead actor based on a super excellent book...

When I started watching, I guess I was expecting quite a bit more. I bailed after about a half hour. It was too slow and incomprehensible.
Maybe I'll give it another try.

Seriously there can be no such thing as the greatest any movie. How many times have those boring droning drecks, Gone with the Wind and Citizen Kane been lionized? The idea is pure solipsism.
My wife and I watch the original “The Thing” every couple of years. It still creeps us out and I’ve been reviewing it since I first saw it when it was on TV when I was 10. That is one powerful movie. Modern film makers could learn a lot about how worthless modern CGI effects can be without a good story and competent acting.

Maybe I'll give it another try. Rutger Hauer's monologue at the end (essentially improvised, btw) makes it worthwhile.

I liked it a lot. It was beautiful visually and somewhat thought provoking, and I felt the cast was superb.

My wife and I watch the original “The Thing” every couple of years. I love that movie. The indefinite ending was the best way to end it, IMHO.

Love that picture, it’s kind of campy and I really like actor Kenneth Tobey, the remake with Kurt Russell was okay but way too gory and didn’t need to be.
Thanks for your insight.
To: ShadowAce
Are you thinking of the John Carpenter movie with Kurt Russell? That’s a great movie too but I’m thinking of the Howard Hawks original from the 1950s.

I fell in love with Ana de Armas at first sight. In the sequel, of course, not the original.

Batty delivers one of the greatest speeches in cinematic history in his ‘Tears in rain’ soliloquy. Hauer himself took a hands-on approach to the speech, amending and cutting back screenwriter David People’s original words. Reportedly, after the first take some crew members were moved to tears themselves. Superhuman is pierced by a nail through the hands. He holds a dove of peace. Even though man is trying to destroy him, he saves man, and dies while telling him of the glorious things of the universe. fantastic

agree-In 1999, he was named by the Dutch public as Best Dutch Actor of the Century.

The Rutger Hauer death scene at the end and his contemplation on life was certainly powerful. In my opinion, among the greatest scenes in Hollywood history.

Rachael: Is this testing whether I'm a replicant or a lesbian, Mr. Deckard?

That’s a great movie too but I’m thinking of the Howard Hawks original from the 1950s. Ahh--I've missed that. I'll have to try to find it and watch it
