NATIONAL BOLOGNA DAY

Each year on October 24th, people across the nation make a sandwich to participate in National Bologna Day. This would be a good day to have a bologna sandwich for lunch.

#NationalBolognaDay

Sometimes this specialty meat is spelled baloney since that’s how many people pronounce it. However, the more common spelling is Bologna. That’s because it originated in the city of Bologna, Italy. This type of sausage is similar to the Italian mortadella. The finely ground pork or beef sausage or a combination is smoked and cured. In Italy, bologna includes a variety of spices not found in American bologna. In fact, in the United States, regulations require American bologna to be finely ground and without visible lard pieces. It hardly resembles anything found in Italy. It can also be made from chicken, turkey, venison, or soy protein.

There is a local ambulance chaser lawyer here that advertises a lot on local TV named ‘Maloney’. He specialized in auto accident injury cases. He used to advertise, “If you have a DUI, don’t even bother to call because I won’t represent you!”

Then one day he was arrested for DUI!

He disappeared off the local airwaves for a couple of years.

Now he’s back and we call him ‘Maloney and his Baloney!’.................

Bologna is one of the few things I won’t eat. I can handle fried ring bologna but can’t deal with Bologna lunch meat.

Yet I had scrapple for breakfast just a few days ago. Scrapple is what’s left over after they make bologna and hot dogs.

My mother in law grew up in a very large family. Bologna stew was a big treat for them. You won’t see anything more disgusting in a pot than bologna stew.

Me too. Was it an east coast thing growing up? I still like scrapple and Taylor’s Pork Roll too.

Thanks for posting!

Since the scamdemic started, I have not been able to find ring bologna anywhere. I used to find it at Kroger or Walmart, but not anymore. It’s just another thing that pisses me off about the COVID hoax.

Lebonon bologna used to be carried by our local grocery chain however about 10 years ago they stopped, I kind of forgot about it... onto the search, the game is afoot!
