Don’t pet the bison.
This summer, I pulled into my driveway and saw one in my backyard through the fence. I could’d figure out what it was.
It was wagging a tail so I didn’t think bobcat, My Brain was “Huge Raccoon?”, but then it jumped vertically 6 foot onto my Privacy fence and into the neighbor’s yard.
I live in Suburban DFW, no where near “the country”.
When I was in college, I got a chance to spend an hour playing alone with a 3 month old mountain lion cub. It was about the size of a domestic house cat. It was NOT a domestic house cat. It was incredibly powerful, and while it wasn’t angry with me, it played ROUGH. At the end of the hour, I had blood streaming in rivulets down my forearms.
Sure, it was painful as heck to play with him. But who ever gets to play with a mountain lion cub? I stayed in the room for an hour. It was worth the pain.
My murder kitty just jumped up on the desk howling for her evening treat .......
Got to go get it before I’m killed and eaten
We have a rival for the “Viking Kitties”!
I played with a lion cub when I was about 20. After a while, it bit the cuff of my jeans, and flopped on its side. Then it rolled over, cutting off the circulation to my foot. Very painful.
Maine Coon, maybe? If you ever meet one and see the size of their paws and claws, well, be glad they have been domesticated.
Definitely lynx. Maine Coons have very long, very bushy tails. They’re also about half the size of a lynx which is a small “big” cat.
