Some woke families cutting Santa out of Christmas picture; 'Gentle parenting' is a thing

Some families in the U.S. are taking to social media to share their dislike for Santa Claus.

Like Sierra McKenzie, who has three children aged three weeks to three years and went on TikTok to exclaim why she is against Jolly Old Saint Nick.

McKenzie, 23, had more to say. “Telling kids that Santa is real is a lie, and I don’t believe in building my kids up on a lie,” McKenzie, who hails from North Dakota, told The New York Post.

“Your kids can still enjoy the magic of Christmas without believing in Santa,” she said, adding that the presents under her tree will be marked “From: Mom and Dad,” according to the Post.

McKenzie says she doesn’t tell her kids Santa “sees you when your sleeping” or any of that. She says he’s a made up character.

Must make for awkward conversations with their friends.

“The magic of Christmas shouldn’t be built up on Santa,” McKenzie told the Post. “It’s about the gift of giving to one another.”

The Post pointed out that the hashtag #SantaIsntReal on TikTok has garnered more than 14 million views with other parents ripping Santa and saying they won’t play ball with the traditional beliefs about him.

“I don’t want to scare my children into thinking that they have to behave a certain way or that they were more ‘naughty or nice,’ than another child based on Christmas gifts,” said Chloe Amelle, 24, a mom of two and parenting influencer from southern Utah.

Apparently telling kids Santa isn’t real is a form of something called “gentle parenting.”

As consultant clinical psychologist Emma Citron (citronpsychology.co.uk) explains: “Gentle parenting has likely become another fad, but it’s merely a different name for old rope.

“Any type of parenting should be encouraged to be gentle parenting – in psychology, we call it positive parenting. It’s based on the idea that we notice the positive things children do and make a fuss of them, but ignore the silly things, because the model is encouraging good behaviours rather than poor.”

She says there’s no need for punishments or negativity if you have a good relationship with your child, based on listening and gentle communication. So, for example, instead of saying, ‘Get your feet off the couch’, it’s more helpful to say, ‘I’d prefer you not to put your feet on the couch because the mud gets on and I have to wash the covers’.

“You can have consequences,” explains Citron, “but there’s no need to raise voices or be negative or punitive – all that does is erode the relationship and the trust and communication between you.”

Jesus Christ is the reason for the season, not Santa Claus. Santa is just based off of Saint Nicolas, a real bishop from the 3rd century. We can take that to the bank.

What Hollywood and ‘literature’ produce will become even more boring than it has already. They are stealing all imagination, impetus to creativity, and magic from the kids.

I'm old enough to remember when we never heard that infernal word.

Non-woke Christians know that there’s nothing Christian about Santa Claus. They prefer to tell their kids the truth about Christmas and the real, historical Saint Nick.

I don’t see why Jesus and Santa have to be mutually exclusive. The Wise Men brought gifts.

Santa gives kids a bad example when there’s already too much childhood obesity in this country

What a stupid article. Whether someone plays the Santa game has nothing to do with politics.

Just clickbait.

And Santa shouldn’t be allowed to have long hair and a beard. It’s just too non-conformist an example to set before kids...

That’s how we rolled. Our kids are very stable for never having believed the fable

Santa also promotes a very patriarchal. His wife stays out of the workforce and essentially spends her time baking his meals and seeing his suits, as if a wife’s role is still supposed to be the little lady behind the scenes. Hillary shows modern women the way when she said she wasn’t a Tammy Wynette @stand by your man” woman. Todays girls need to be inspired by Hillary and not dragged down by Mrs Claus.

Getting satan, I mean Santa out of Christmas works for me.

It’s the same way we raised our girls.

Was the fictitious fraud born to deliver sinful man from the depths of sin?

Was the Easter bunny sent to Calvary to deliver sinful man from eternal separation from God?

Why do we accept a fable to replace a God that paid such a Great price?

Shame on us for even entertaining the concept!

Yes, Santa does look a little like an aging beatnik in a red suit.

I think Mrs. Claus had the greatest job in the world. (But I’d demand some supervision and caretaking of the reindeer...)

Those that pretend to share the platform placing Jesus AND “santa” symbolically in the Manger, will one day have to confess to your children, you’ve been lying to them all these years about a fat cat in a red suit with (g)odly powers, “he knows when your asleep, he knows when your awake, he knows when you’ve been good or bad....”

So when your kids conclude that you’ve been lying to them about a fable, will they believe you when you tell them about God sending His only begotten Son to die on a Cross for our deliverance?

Wow, Calm down, Sparky!

Whoever said that these fables were ever meant to replace God?

The Bible is full of fables. They teach lessons and values.

“So, for example, instead of saying, ‘Get your feet off the couch’, it’s more helpful to say, ‘I’d prefer you not to put your feet on the couch because the mud gets on and I have to wash the covers’.”

If the child is old enough to understand mud has to be washed off the couch why is mom or dad doing the washing?
