Missouri AG Investigates Allegations That Hundreds of Children Were Harmed at Transgender Clinic (medical transitioning [mutilation] of minors)

The investigation began two weeks ago after a whistleblower made “shocking allegations” about gender-transitioning practices at The Washington University Transgender Center at St. Louis Children’s Hospital, Attorney General Andrew Bailey said in a news release.... Bailey said he kept the probe under wraps until Feb. 9, when whistleblower Jamie Reed went public with some of her accusations in an article entitled, “I Thought I Was Saving Trans Kids. Now I’m Blowing the Whistle.” She is calling for a national halt to the procedures.

As The Epoch Times reported earlier, after reading Reed’s “sickening account,” U.S. Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) announced an investigation into the St. Louis clinic....

In a sworn statement filed with Bailey, Reed alleges the center’s doctors engaged in unethical practices, such as continuing to prescribe transition medications even after a child’s parent revoked consent—and after patients reported adverse effects after taking those prescriptions. And Missouri may not be the only place in the United States where such practices are occurring, some people suspect.

Reed’s revelations represent a watershed moment in the battle over the “medicalization” of transgender-identifying youths in the United States, activists say. They believe that Reed, a 42-year-old woman who is married to a transgender person, may be the nation’s first person to blow the whistle about the inner workings of a pediatric gender clinic.

Bailey said Reed has provided documentation to back up her claims. He is taking her allegations seriously. His office is “thoroughly investigating to make sure children are not harmed by individuals who may be more concerned with a radical social agenda than the health of children.”

Scott Newgent, a prominent opponent of the “medical transitioning” of children with drugs and surgeries to alter their appearance, applauded Reed’s courage in coming forward.

Newgent, who regrets undergoing sex-reassignment surgery in adulthood, has tirelessly pushed for states to outlaw these procedures for minors–a stance scorned by some in the LGTB community.

The number of these clinics has exploded in recent years; there are now more than 100 in the United States. The trend toward expansion here, however, comes at a time when European countries are curtailing the medical transitioning of minors. Last year, England ordered its sole gender-identity clinic to close after substantiating allegations similar to those that Reed is making.

Republican Missouri Sen. Josh Hawley pledged to launch an investigation into the Washington University Transgender Center at St. Louis Children’s Hospital following an explosive whistleblower report about the clinic’s treatment of children.

Jamie Reed, a former case manager at the clinic, said doctors rushed children into irreversible sex change procedures which can cause infertility and a host of other side effects, often against the wishes of parents, in a Thursday article in The Free Press. Hawley quickly announced that his office would launch an investigation into the clinic over potential malpractice involving minors, according to a press release.

Based upon a review of 40 studies that involved a total of roughly 185,000 adults with HIV or AIDS (PLWHA -- People Living With HIV/AIDS), "suicide risk is 100 times higher among such patients," and with "person attempting suicide for every two who think about it. In 2017 almost 35% of high school students who identified as transgender reported attempting suicide in the last 12 months (versus 9.% of straights), and almost 44% considered attempting it. Transgender students were much more likely to have ever had engaged in sexual relations than were cisgender (straight) females (43.1% versus 33.2%), and with more persons, while almost 15% reported their first act was before age 13 years vs. 1.5% for straights.

Almost 23% of transgender students reported they had experienced sexual dating violence, with approx. 26% reporting it has being physical. LGBQ young people are more than twice as likely to feel suicidal, and over four times as likely to attempt suicide, compared to heterosexual youth (Kann 2016)

A large study also found that of 10,270 transgender patients identified, approximately 58% of transgender patients had at least one DSM-5 diagnosis compared with 13.6% of cisgender patients, indicating transgenders had about 4.5 times higher rate of psychiatric illness than straight persons. The suicide attempt rate among transgender persons ranges from 32% to 50% across the countries. (Note that compassion toward such is to be shown, while the high suicide rate among LGBTQ persons is blamed on societal rejection, yet in the West it is actually those who oppose homosexual relations that face the most widespread persecution, and minorities such as evangelical Christians face great persecution worldwide without being suicidal.)

God made man and women distinctively different yet uniquely compatible and complementary, and only joined them together in marriage - as the Lord Jesus Himself specified (Mt. 19:4–6) - and Scripture only condemns homosexual relations wherever they are manifestly dealt with.

And homosexual relations have been tragically primarily responsible for approx. 80% of new HIV cases among men and over 700,000 American deaths, though such is not even the decisive reason why homosexual relations are wrong.

Yet there is still room at the cross for all who will come to God in repentance and faith, and trust in the Divine Son of God sent by the Father, the risen Lord Jesus, to save them on His account, by His sinless shed blood, and thus be baptized and live for Him. Acts 10:36-47
