Statistics Research Reveals Vitamin D, Covid Link

UniSQ academic helps refine knowledge on disease, vitamin interaction by modelling against confounding variables Vitamin D is known to keep our bones and muscles healthy – and now a novel study shows it might also play an important role in protecting us from COVID-19.

In a newly released paper, University of Southern Queensland statistician Dr Zahirul Hoque and colleagues have studied the link between vitamin D levels and COVID-19 infection rates using statistical modelling.

After analysing the health datasets from 10 countries, the team found that individuals with normal levels of vitamin D had significantly lower COVID-19 infection rates than their vitamin D deficient counterparts.

To define this interaction, the team had to discount other variables which could make individuals more susceptible to the disease, such as age, gender and weight.

This study is the first of its kind to investigate the link between vitamin D and COVID-19 while adjusting for confounding variables and country level heterogeneity.

“We started work on this project in 2020, when COVID-19 was at its peak in many countries,” Dr Hoque said.

“Looking at the literature, we found some teams adjusting for different variables, but we did not find any looking at the influence of vitamin D levels on COVID-19 incidence which had also considered other confounding variables.

“It was hard to get data which also included vitamin D levels, but we ended up collecting samples from a good number of countries across many regions in the world.”

Dr Hoque said the team used a negative binomial regression model to counter country-linked heterogeneity and find the association between the independent variables and COVID-19, providing an incidence rate ratio.

The researchers then studied the impact of vitamin D levels on this incidence rate ratio and found that COVID-19 infection was 48 per cent less in people with normal levels of vitamin D (>50nmol/L).

Overall, the team found vitamin D deficiency, aging and the vitamin D deficient, aged community at greatest risk for COVID-19 infection.

“Vitamin D is known to strengthen the immune system and could possibly play a direct role in the prevention of COVID-19,” Dr Hoque said.

“The vitamin has also been shown to exhibit antimicrobial activity against bacteria, fungi and viruses.

“With this research we hope to strengthen our knowledge on COVID-19 and factors which might help to prevent it.”

Sorry, this is poorly written, but it's hard to find anywhere in the media reporting this.

We knew this 3 years ago, but the NWO and Cult of Medicine opted for dead bodies.

There have been hospitals that denied Vit D to covid patients

There’s no money to be made by telling people to get a little more sun.

Unless you sell (or tax) suntan lotion.

This, the clot shot and mask not working and Zinc helping was all known years ago when the plandemic started.

The evidence is there for anyone who actually cares to think seriously about it.

This was all about population reduction with the bonus of removing trump from office.

Thing is, this was also just a dry run, a much bigger one is planned. That is why Biden is being shepherded by his puppet masters to sign the Who accord ceding our Health Care sovereignty to the UN.

I'm supposed to be doing other things but I can recall reading several articles noting that the hospitalized, ICU and covid deaths were Vitamin D deficient.

Wait one: Articles on my CV-19 directory gives me 52 items on Vitamin D - date sorted - pic a title and I'll post a link.

Sorry new PC - missing a lot of normal tools - set up Postimg.Com just to put this up.

“… study shows it might also play an important role in protecting us from COVID-19…”

Tell us something we didn’t know years ago.

All this means is the FDA will now make vitamin D a prescription drug and make going outside in the Sun illegal.

The portion of the study posted does not suggest that someone with COVID benefits from vitamin D supplements. It refers to those with good Vitamin D levels beforehand, and Vitamin D is one of those that takes a long time to rise in the system, generally well beyond the scope of a COVID infection.

The initial studies I read a couple of years ago predominantly showed better outcomes if Vitamin D levels were not low, with high fatality rates if levels were <16ng. This meta study suggests that it also helps in not catching COVID to begin with.

By and large, it appears that Vitamin D is very good as a prophylactic in getting your base D levels up, but does not help much as a treatment.

Here's one from 9/2021 just as Delta was hitting hard:

COVID-19 mortality risk correlates inversely with vitamin D3 status, and a mortality rate close to zero could theoretically be achieved at 50 ng/ml 25(OH)D3: Results of a systematic review and meta-analysis

Nevermind Quercetin, Zinc, HCQ, IVM, Vit C , etc. How many lives might have been saved if the feds had allowed off-the shelf-meds and supplements - my guess? Millions across the world.

Sigh.

When Mr RightField was hospitalized with covid, the Dr's took him off all his vitamin supplements. I didn't find this out for over a week. He had been taking 5000 units of D3 for years. The doctors said I should have brought it in if. I wanted him to have it.

When he was admitted, they called to get his list of meds AND supplements. I was so naive to assume that they work continue them. Anyway, after 2 days of discussing back and forth with various "hospitalists" one of them finally agreed to start him on 2000 units of D.

By this time, the Remdesivir and other protocol had done its damage. He passed away 2 weeks later.

Thanks.

The studies showing Vitamin D and zinc (and hydroxychloroquine) being ineffective with treating COVID were based upon people who were already experiencing severe symptoms. These of course were the ones the CDC trumpeted.

Collectively, what they appear to say is to keep your Vitamin D up to normal levels all the time (no need to go high), and very early on take zinc, along with the other anti-virals.

What is important to know is that ones personal choices can affect their immune system greater than what vitamin D can help. From the article: “Conditions like HSV or HIV that are incurable can also be treated, allowing the person to live for extended periods of time without further harm from the disease”:

Vit D has half a dozen anti-viral properties. It opens up immune pathways, and even a breakdown product in the blood erodes viral coats. And it also inhibits the immune system from running wild, an ACE-inhibitor effect.

Basically at every step of the process, from recognition of novel pathogens to conducting an orderly immune response, Vit D is a major player.

A novel study? We knew that having blood levels of vitamin above 45 ng/ml was protective against severe COVID 19 disease and death in early 2020. It's old news. Keep your blood levels of vitamin D between 60 ng/ml and 90 ng/ml and you have little chance of a fatal case of COVID19.

My daily supplements include 10000IU D3, 500 mcg K2, 400 mg magnesium citrate and avoidance of fructose to keep my vitamin D levels up. I also take 400 mg quercetin and 50 mg zinc picolinate to keep zinc levels up. That makes an unfriendly environment for viral replication should the virus enter via other than an ACE2 receptor. The point of the vitamin D levels is to keep the ACE2 receptors from binding the spike protein.

All correct but I’d add that its Ivermectin, Hydroxychloroquine and Quercetin (a common supplement recommended in March of 2020 by Dr. Zelenko if IVM or HCQ were unavailable - very early in the US pandemic) that act as zinc ionophores - that help get the zinc into your cells to prevent or reduce viral replication.

The CDC holds Zinc as fundamental to proper operation of our immune system which was known for years and years but denied for use in early or late Covid-19 treatment.

Sigh, again.
