A Florida man who broke into a home Sunday hid in a pile of construction insulation before he was arrested by responding officers.
Bruce Davis allegedly broke into a home in North Fort Myers in an attempted residential robbery and was still inside the property when deputies arrived on the scene, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office said.
The sheriff joked that Davis, 44, got himself “stuck in an itchy situation” in a press release about the encounter.
The would-be burglar climbed into the house’s attic and buried himself under the itchy insulation while officers searched the home.
The sheriff’s office shared a photo of the insulation debris with two hands sticking straight out. Another photo shows Davis standing with white insulation residue covering his clothes, hair and beard.

Makes me itchy and scratchy just thinking about a bed of fiberglass insulation.
Fiberglass would have been much worse.
Having laid down a batt or two in my working life, I can say that does NOT look enjoyable.
Now THAT is a great Florida Man story. I give that an “A-”. To get a solid A we would have needed another twist, or some alcohol. But the idea of Florida Man doing something illegal but not horrific, and making creative but chuckle-headed solutions that only make a bad situation worse for the funnier, is the essence of Florida Man.
If that was fiberglass insulation, I cannot imagine the damage done to his lungs.
Could have been a combined asbestos-fiberglass insulation, even worse.
Naw, that is at best a solid "C."
I hate "grade inflation."
Having him be completely naked, with one eyebrow shaved off, would rate him a "B."
To deserve an "A," he'd have to also be smeared in crap, and locked in an "intimate embrace" with a large animal (say a Great Dane) from which he was unable to extricate himself.
Extra points if alligators are somehow involved.
Regards,
No shower for you until June.
Indeed Madame. And in the Florida heat with one’s pores open and sweating that stuff will be down right lethal.
I know. I worked in the construction industry for years and I HATED having to install that stuff.
