The Crown season 6 will be tackling Prince Andrew’s friendship with Jeffrey Epstein by completely ignoring it.
The final instalment of the juggernaut Netflix series, which has gripped viewers since 2016, will concentrate on the British monarchy in the 1990s and will see James Murray reprise his role from season 5 as the royal.
While plot details are being kept under wraps, it is expected the long-running drama will depict Princess Diana’s death and King Charles and Queen Camilla’s wedding, as well as paying tribute to the late Queen.
But The Crown will not include Andrew’s 12-year friendship with vile paedophile billionaire Epstein, who died in prison by hanging in 2019 waiting for trial after being charged with sex trafficking, Metro.co.uk understands.
The pair are thought to have struck up a friendship when they bonded after Andrew’s divorce from Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, in 1996.
Andrew was even pictured with Epstein in New York City’s Central Park after the businessman had been convicted for the prostitution of minors in 2010.
The 63-year-old addressed his ongoing friendship with Epstein after his release from prison in his infamous Newsnight interview with Emily Maitlis, saying that he ‘let the side down’ for the royal family.
He said: ‘I stayed with him … and that’s the bit that … I kick myself for on a daily basis because it was not something that was becoming of a member of the royal family and we try and uphold the highest standards and practices and I let the side down, simple as that.’
Andrew stepped down from public life over his friendship with Epstein in 2019. He went on to pay millions to settle a civil sexual assault case to a woman he claimed never to have met.
