ROTFL, no expert, just somebody that has been riding almost since I could walk.

You are smart to be apprehensive because they can hurt you, badly. I have been hurt several times due to losing focus, especially on a greener horse.

Anybody that has a fear of them but wants to ride can find a good training/riding stable that uses well-trained gentle horses. These horses have had the fight/flight instinct tamped down to make them kid safe. A lot of them are older more seasoned horses. Once you are calm, a horse will be too.

Good advice! Only problem is I haven’t figured out how to stop emitting fear pheronomes!😃

A good training horse won’t pay attention to it. The person in charge of the training stables will coach you and start you on the best horse. The horse might be 40 years old, but it’s a start. :-) You’d love it once you tamed the fear.

One of my favorite quotes is “the best thing for the inside of a person is the outside of a horse”. That might not exact, but it means the same.

Most horses are really gentle creatures, but they are timid about things.

I no longer ride due to osteoporosis in one hip and the expense, but my love of horses is as strong as ever.

Just do it! LOL

Thanks, but I have a fear of heights and falling. Actually my height! Sitting astride a steed would put me in the clouds! I fell on ice once, broke 7 ribs and bruised a lung.
9 days in hospital and 2 months recovery. Ribs still hurt and I swore never to stand up again! Seriously, horses are fabulous especially if you grow up with them.

I understand! I’d still be riding if I hadn’t developed Osteo in this hip. A fall from that height would be crippling. I also learned when I was little. Kids have no fear. LOL

Bison don't see very well beyond forty or fifty yards which people apparently don't understand or care.

Anything getting too close this animal's ‘’space’’, say fifty yards or under and the animal will respond accordingly. Best to stay much further back.

In the video the animal first reacts by charging at what it perceived as the threat, the humans. And then it veers off to it's left in an effort to get away from them.

That would make me nervous. I worked for a small meat processing facility and they would do custom kills & once in a while, a buffalo would be brought in & it was always in a steel pipe pen. The place did a lot of bulls for hamburger and there could be a dozen or more in a pen & they were always fighting but with the buffalo, whole different animal. To see one up close with a barrier between you is still intimidating.

it sure is- they are incredibly powerful and very agile- and can jump quite high and turn on a dime too- they look slow when you see them walking aroudn a pen, but they are capable of extreme bursts of speed- our neighbor who was gored found that out the hard way unfortunately- and it cost him his life-
