Organized shoplifting is a $100-billion problem. Here's why we're all screwed

• Corporate America is finally waking up to the fact that woke policies on crime are costing them billions.

Organized shoplifting efforts and flash mobs of robberies across the country caused businesses $100 billion in losses in 2021 and have only gotten worse since then according to the National Retail Federation. As former Home Depot CEO Bob Nardelli recently put it, Biden’s America has become a "lawless society."

And a lawless society is bad for business. Big companies, from Whole Foods, Walmart and Walgreens to Nordstrom, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Lululemon and more have all suffered. Mom-and-pop businesses have suffered too.

While all businesses factor in some amount of loss from theft, euphemistically called "shrink" in the industry, this recent phenomenon reaches a whole new level. As a result, companies have closed stores, revised earnings estimates, and taken hits to their top and bottom lines, resulting in loss of shareholder value and harm to the communities they serve.

But why is this happening now? The answer is simple: George-Soros-backed rogue prosecutors. In big cities across the country, these so-called public servants refuse to prosecute petty thieves and even go so far as to call their illegal behavior "quality of life" crimes which, according to them, don’t harm anyone.

That’s a lie.

Not only do these crimes hurt businesses, large and small, they also harm the people who work in those businesses and the city residents who shop at those businesses. When businesses shutter because of the unacceptable risks and loss caused by repeated thefts, the local residents who used to shop in those stores can no longer do so and have to travel longer distances (and pay higher prices) as a result. Worse still, people who used to work in those stores have to find new jobs or go on unemployment.

Going forward, I’m guessing the mom-and-pop businesses will be hurt the most. The big boys have their online sales. Mom and pop, not so much.

I don’t think even the Koreans will fare well. Today’s Soros DAs would have prosecuted the 1992 Koreans. After all, brandishing a firearm is illegal!

Side note: An ultra-liberal DA won in my blue-dog D county. I looked it up. There was something like $750,000 of Soros money behind him, funneled through a “neutral” public interest group. The Soros thing is not a rumor. It’s real.

It's not a slippery slope if it was part of the program all along.

That is a very interesting tagline.

As in -
"Our slippery slope is the agenda of the Clinton-Obama-Biden handlers. Corrupt the nation's election system, its government institutions, its judicial branch, its military, its education system, open its borders and cause general social unrest and chaos. Do so in subtle ways that are not easily recognized until at or very near the tipping point."

California is of course moving in the opposite direction. The is currently a bill in the California legislature that would make it illegal for a store to require employees to intervene in a robbery.

Only possible remedy is to increase the EBT card rates and encourage people to shop online at Amazon and Walmart online.

Only then can the government monitor and control such activity. For our safety, and all.

Its just another one of the many, huge costs society must pay for the government and the Left to maintain the fake ideological narrative which keeps them in power.

You’re actually on to something there. These Democrat policies are corrosive. Say there’s this poor slob standing in a checkout line. He barely has enough money to pay for his goods. And he sees other people just walking right out of the store without paying.

Will this poor slob be paying next time?

This is what a collapsed society looks like.

Those living in “safe” or gated communities are next in line.

Not all of America is a “lawless society.” Most Americans are standing in the checkout line with their cash/credit cards in hand, fully aware that the right thing to do is pay for the stuff.

It’s a fraction of society that fills bags and walks out of stores without paying. The fraction that the left intended to be the recipient of such magnanimous generosity.

The left sent the message that stealing would be tolerated. Only a sliver of society felt that this applied to them, and the left knew who they were. It was a form of reparations.

As usual, the honest majority of society gets the royal shaft, is blamed for all the poverty in the world, and gets middle fingers aimed at it by the people who get everything free.

Shoplifting (now a major industry in itself) is a byproduct of the coddling a preferred "race" with affirmative action, talk of equity, reparations, and redistribution, and by teaching them that they can hate other races with impunity because it isn't racism if your race isn't in control of the reins of power.

In a counter-intuitive way, the recent epidemic of shoplifting is a good thing because people see it for what it is and they are fed up with it and the policies that have caused it.

As a side note, if the media were cramming people of my race down the throats of TV viewers in advertisement, I would be worried. People don't like to be forced to like someone by having them appear in every product ad.

It will backfire bigtime.

Many of us (guys) can remember how we reacted when our parents tried to push a certain ideal girl on us as their preferred "girlfriend." She was the one girl we very quickly came to despise. Think about that for a bit.

As the stores close and you think you can simply order online, the delivery vans are going to be robbed more and more.

I look for a change in the retail store model. Sort of a modern version of where you told the clerk what you wanted and he’d fetch it off the shelf...now it will be viewed on your phone or PC at home or on a kiosk at the store and an automated system will deliver it to the checkout area where you will take possession only after payment has been made.

Prices go up, salaries remain low, why pay full price when you can get stolen items for pennies on the dollars that were also stolen.
It's like self-service welfare.
It hurts honest working people on both sides of the cash register.
Society is falling apart.
Of course commies love it. It's part of the plan.

Why bother with all that? Just look at it on your phone or computer, click “order,” and it arrives at your house in hours or a day.

BestBuy learned it is the showroom for Amazon.

Reminds me of a skit about Ireland during ‘The Troubles’.

Sean: I’ve just got me a new job.
Liam: And what will it be?
Sean: I’m the tail gunner on a milk truck.
