He’s despicable.

Coming from you, that means nothing.

You need to do some research on ‘free speech’ and it’s limitations. Try some key word searches like defamation, libel, malicious, etc.

Wasn’t this case a civil suit? The parents of the murdered children suing Jones?

If it is then this was initiated by those parents and not government. The court is acting as referee between private parties so this isn’t a government penalty. You often hear of cases where damages are ridiculous but usually those are against corporations.

Jones wasn’t able to claim that he believed what he said about Sandy Hook thanks to his own private messages that became evidence against him. His own texts or emails revealed that he knowingly invented his story for his show.

What Jones did was deplorable. He went to trial. He lost.

WRONG! There was no trial on the facts. Leftist judge declared him guilty, then instructed the jury to determine how guilty (monetarily) he was.

You'd know that if you actually went behind the two-minute hate mainstream media coverage before spouting off like an ignorant jackass.

You don't seem to be up on the most basic facts of the so-called trial at all, just the Godless, soulless mainslime media talking points. You are in no position to lecture anyone on it.

We have a trial system in this country that works.
No, we don't. We have leftist globalist judges twisting the law like a pretzel into a noose to hang their innocent political enemies. The same crap is happening in the Trump trials. But I suppose you have a hate-on for him too, like so many cuck-servatives. Guess what? The people you consider "proper" conservatives or patriots, who don't face this kind of lawfare, they aren't targets because they're better people, not "charlatans" as you so ignorantly put it, or more principled; it's because they pose no threat to the powers that be.

Perhaps Jones could have apologized.
He did. You'd know that if you stepped outside your mainstream media bubble, your cone of self-willed ignorance. But that would take bravery, brains and character.

He’s screwed now.
And you couldn't be happier. I bet you don't get anywhere near this thrilled when something like this happens to a leftist. Way to go, backstabber.

Perhaps he could attempt at being a human being and not a charlatan.
You first, loser.

It was initiated by Democrat-connected law firms. The same who have practicing lawfare against gun manufacturers. IIRC, Blumenthal and other prominent Democrats are connected to this firm. They approached the parents, not the other way around.

It’s actually pretty standard. Punitive damages are generally not discharged in bankruptcy.

Slander isn’t free speech. And is very actionable.

They were entered into evidence and are part of the public trial record. Have you never sat through a trial?

“It was initiated by Democrat-connected law firms. “

Which has nothing to do with the point that this was a civil trial, not criminal.

The government wasn’t prosecuting Alex Jones. This was a tort action over alleged personal damages.

“Then everyone in WWE should be fined billions.”

There’s no “fine” involved in Jones’ case. This wasn’t a government prosecuting him. It’s private parties suing him for damages, a tort.

For WWE to be involved in something similar they would have to sue each other. But with WWE being a staged game and all of the wrestlers role players there aren’t any damages.

My perception of Judges is that many if not most of them are arrogant lying bastards who are uninterested in truth or justice so long as they get to pretend to rule over the rest of us.

Our judiciary is horrible, and we need to reform it to make it functional again.

The court is acting as referee between private parties...

No it isn't. The court is acting as a vindictive punisher. If the court was being reasonable, they would have instantly tossed out such a ridiculous penalty and sanctioned everyone involved in putting it forth.

Only a ridiculous, immoral court would stand by and let such a thing happen.

The court is a participant, and a very biased one at that.

I've noticed similar ridiculous judgements over the years. One against Ralph's Grocery store chain comes to mind.

Just because 12 idiots want to feel emotional and impose draconian penalties on people is no reason any court should tolerate it.

Anyone with such bad judgement as to impose a billion dollar penalty on someone is clearly unfit for Jury duty because they are imbeciles.

The case should be tossed out on that basis alone.
