Meriwether Farms in Wyoming is featured on War Room once in a while. The young owner, Katherine, used to work somewhere in the Trump administration, IIRC.

They don’t look cheap, but it appears that they’re kicking ass. Nice to support conservative businesses in the parallel marketplace.

I love lamb, but never prepared it myself.

Most of the young people I know love a good steak. They also love cookouts. All too often these studies from academia are funded by grants for a particular result. Always follow the money.

Similar situation here. My grandfather was a rancher. Twice a year he would slaughter a young cow and bring us the meat. My dad had to buy a large freezer. We ate beef 4 nights a week.

“We were all spoiled rotten.”

I feel the same way in the grocery store. “I have to PAY for this?!” Most of the members in Dad’s church were farmers, and how they supplemented his salary was with eggs, fresh milk (gross - still can’t stand milk), and produce. Not much meat.

Bushels of veggies and fruits would be left by the door. Mom always had plenty to can that would last the year.

At our house we had grapes, peaches, pears, cherries, and currants.

We thought we were poor (we were) and pitiful. Now we know we were spoiled in that regard.

But doesn’t it do your heart good to realize that the money you’ve worked so hard for is now making it possible for losers to eat better than you can afford to eat? 😏🙄

You’re just “giving back”. I hate that phrase.

Well, the Bible forbids the consumption of the pig, so that leaves beef, chicken and fish.

“I don’t buy much steak because I have no idea how to cook it.”

That would be us. The best I can do is cook it in a Cuisinart grill (George Foreman type). It tastes fine, but I know it could be better. It’s for dummies. One beep for rare, etc.

The prior owners of this house left a beautiful grill connected to natural gas. Maybe we’ll take lessons on how to use it when summer rolls around.

If it makes the price of brisket go down, me and my smoker are happy!

Us too! It’s one of the easiest main courses to get to turn out perfect and nearly impossible to screw up. Brown a large chuck roast in butter, then throw immerse in beef broth in the crockpot for 4 hours on high, 6 on low. Perfect every time. Use some of crockpot broth for gravy. Mmmm..

Turkeys seem to be fickle. Not sure yet what the perfect method is but my Oster roaster does a good job. Problem is the “15-20 mins per lb” never seems to correlate to the actual cook time even when fully thawed.

The last time I tried cooking just a turkey breast in the oven I used a pyrex or glass dish (dumb mistake). It shattered in my hand as I was pulling it out. Turkey on the floor. Fortunately I had cooked it in our kitchen and was carrying it to the in-laws right behind us and no one saw the incident. It all got eaten.

The Safeway stores around here sell what they call London Broil (top round, I think) for $1.97/lb every so often. It’s good for jerky, stew, Swiss steak, etc., not so good for grilling. Makes a pretty good cheesesteak if you slice it thin enough.

Google “finger test for cooking steak” for an easy way to judge doneness.

I bought a grill and ruined too many steaks. It’s been sitting idle for years on my patio.

I bought half a cow last year, and getting another in February. Got some venison to go through before then to make freezer space.

Yes, just North of in Moorseville.

FYI- The Tax up here is only 5% and save 3% (the Credit Card % Fee) by paying in cash at Mills.

All the Meats are Vacuum Sealed in nice heavy plastic bags so they are Freezer ready.

If You sign up for E-Mail They will send a list of what is in stock. By the pound, NOT listing the price

The producers do not drive up the price. All the middle men and regulatory wonks are responsible.
