It was -22° F on a December night in 1980 when 19-year-old Jean Hilliard’s car skidded off a side road in Lengby, Minnesota. The teen was on the way back home to her parents’ house and was wearing a coat, mittens, and cowboy boots. The car was truly stuck, so she decided to walk to a nearby friend’s house. She collapsed a mere 15 feet from his door as hypothermia took hold.
The friend, Wally Nelson, found her the following morning; she was frozen solid. “I grabbed her by the collar and skidded her into the porch. I thought she was dead. Froze stiffer than a board, but I saw a few bubbles coming out of her nose,” Nelson revealed in a 2018 Minnesota Public Radio interview.
When Hilliard finally made it to the hospital, her pulse was 12 beats per minute and her body temperature was 88° F, according to the New York Times. The medical staff thawed Hilliard with an electrical warming blanket, and over the next several hours Hilliard made a full recovery.

"when the cells really freeze completely, they undergo a crystallization process and become glass-like crystals. In this process they are irreparably damaged. "When the cells thaw after this process, all that is left of them is a mass of pulp," explained Dr. Alvin Merendino. This is a main reason why it’s currently impossible for doctors to freeze people and bring them back to life a few years later. - https://www.jpost.com/health-and-wellness/meet-the-woman-who-froze-like-a-lump-of-meat-in-the-freezer-and-survived-679417
Do you also believe that a dead body should not be cremated??
>>>Do you also believe that a dead body should not be cremated??>>>
Well, when I consider that thousands if not millions of Christians were burned alive by the church of the dark ages, I guess I don’t see the difference or if this is an issue with God. The Bible even calls this body “vile.”
Isn’t it such good news that we get a new perfect, beautiful and immortal body at the 2nd coming!
Also, Genesis 2:7 tells us the formula for life ....dust plus God’s breath (his spirit) and we BECOME a living soul. We are not GIVEN nor do we HAVE a soul. The doctrine of an immortal disembodied soul has it’s origin in greek mythology and Egyptian and pagan religions.
The Bible says ONLY GOD is immortal. We have conditional mortality and sadly, when our parents sinned......we inheritied a sinful fallen nature and we must die. But if we die in Christ, it’s only a sleep. At the 2nd coming we shall come to life to meet Jesus.
Throughout the bible death is called a sleep. The dead know nothing, etc. etc. A few texts here and there are the same texts always quoted to try and show we have an immortal disembodied soul. That’s why we have people praying to saints and Mary and ghosts in heaven. The Bible teaches none of this.
Even David has not yet ascended. And moses was taken body and all....see Jude 9. Elijah and Enoch were both translated alive so they didn’t see death at all. But the one who did.....Moses, we later read about a contention over his “body”....
I’m sure it was Satan arguing with God because there had been no atonement yet. God wrote a check and cashed it later at Calvary and took Moses home.......and life includes the “body.” Genesis 2:7 is the formula for life. A + B= C. Dust plus God’s breath = life or a living soul. Take away A and B.and back to dust we go. AS Job said......from dust I came...to dust I return. It’s just not that hard. Thank u
God Bless...
Ditto Churchill.
MOSTLY DEAD.
When doing open chest cardiac surgery the body temp is sometimes brought down...I have heard from surgical tech teams that sometimes ice would be placed in the chest cavity. Cannot say I can verify with my own eyes.
As long as the oxygen requirements of tissue are met there is a possibility that someone can survive. Unfortunately chemical reactions go on even at lower temps...eventually proteins fold up and precipitate out...ice crystal disrupt cell membranes, not enough ATP is made, coagulation proteins coagulate, etc and patient dies. We are finding out that some people can hang out for longer periods than previously thought.
Wasn’t this one of the themes for the sci-fi film, The Thing, back in 1951?
You are welcome. Blessings to you.
I’m only having my head frozen. Fingers crossed that they pick the right one.
So there may be a sequel to The Shining?
They are now experimenting with deep chilling for spinal injuries. The cold reduces the amount of swelling and may return the injured person to full health rather then partially crippled. It is a very complicated process where a lot can go wrong but it also can have some amazingly positive results.
Never saw it, so you can explain.
Yes, see comments.
The villain ends up being frozen outdoors at the conclusion of the movie.
