After two months in office, Milei balances Argentina’s budget for the first time in 12 years

This is certainly not a knock against Thomas Sowell (he holds a special place in my heart), and this is not to discourage anyone from reading one of his most recognized and invaluable works, Basic Economics, but it is a giant book, and for the less-informed intellectual slowpokes of the left, it’s unlikely they’ll be able to get through it

So, let’s just go with Afuera101, and use new Argentinian president Javier Milei’s budget cuts as a very simple illustration of what the first course of action should be for a political executive who wants to save an economy: slash government spending.

Milei only took office on December 10th, and in the one full month he got under his belt, he balanced Argentina’s budget, for the first time in 12 years, and gave the people a whopping $589,000,000 surplus—all this after barely more than 60 days. Yet, it makes sense; eliminate unnecessary and parasitic nonsense programs, cutt the dead weight of bureaucracy, and all of a sudden, one month later, there’s an extra $600 million in the public coffers. Crazy!

Of course, the same mainstream outlets that branded Milei a crazy person and sought to derail his campaign and prevent his election, are decrying an alleged poverty high, because while Milei slashed government spending, he also devalued the peso. (For an excellent essay by my colleague Monica Showalter on Milei’s economic vision, see here.)

Sounds like a good start. If he keeps it up don’t be surprised if he liberates the Falklands.

It's not a secret—he just cut spending and eliminated wasteful, unnecessary government entities. That would be my guess and I'll bet I'm correct.

Milei for U.S. president in 2024!

Why not? If Obama was elected while not a natural born citizen, why not Milei?

Nah, raising nationalistic ire over Los Malvinas is what Argentine politicians do when they're failing domestically and need a distraction.

Of course, the way things are going in the UK if the Argies wait a couple of years they might be able to take those islands (take, not liberate) with 6 guys wielding 2x4s with nails in them.

I just use the term ‘liberate’ to tweak the Ukraine Cheerleaders (I know it doesn’t apply here!), but I agree - the UK cannot even get its front-line ships out of port.

The British must have their elections no later than 28 January 2025.

The next PM will be from the Labor Party. So the Argies can send a bunch of fishing boats to the Falklands and take them by then. The next PM is extremely unlikely going to act to protect the Falklands. In fact, he may say "it belongs to you". And that will be the end of the dispute.

Javier Milei is right now the leader of what is laughingly known as “the free world”.

Considering the mindset of today’s Leftists, I think he’s more likely to threaten to nuke Argentina if they take the islands. Of course if he carries through, London may not be around very long, due to the involvement of other actors.

Of course, I also wonder if I could conquer Hawaii by giving myself a spray tan, a fake native Hawaiian name, crossdressing, claiming to be a pedophile, then laying claim to them. The Democrats in power wouldn’t dare oppose (oppress?) a trans-native-MAP-lesbian-woman, would they??

Given the rapid pace at which the UK is deteriorating, the people of the Falklands may welcome being part of Argentina.

The globalists are going to have to do something to crash their economy. They simply CANNOT allow the world to see the truth.
