Hoover was very good at pretending small time criminals were hyped as public enemies. He was also good at stopping the FBI from catching Nazi spy rings. And according to British Agent Dusko Popov, Hoover never sent the Japanese plans for Pearl Harbor that Popov gave him. A real piece of work, that Hoover. Himmlers pen pal.

True, Hoover was an anti-communist. He did good work there. But that’s only 1/3 of the story.
Another 1/3 is his decades-long refusal to admit that the Mafia existed. Some say Hoover was blackmailed. Others say he was just shortsighted. No matter. Either way, he completely failed in his duties in that respect.
And the last 1/3? It’s his refusal to step aside and gracefully retire. Much like those ancients in Congress, Hoover became addicted to power. Nothing to admire there.

i know a lady like that..her son is a lowlife but she will do practically anything he asks. He’s exremely manipulative but she treats him like he’s 12 and finds any excuse for his behavior.
I remember a notorious crime family in Crown Heights, the Singleterry’s. They were West Indian, I think. Never major crime, just lots of break-ins, fights, etc.
