In an obvious effort to diminish Huck, Fred gets off a line he wants Iowans to chew on in the weeks ahead:
Citing a face-off with America's enemies, Thompson asks: "Who do you want sitting on our side representing you?
"That ought to be who you elect president."
Then, in an attempt to put his foot down on debate silliness, he refused to play along on the raise-your-hand-if line of questioning on global warming.
"Im not doing handshows today," Thompson said to applause.
Not offered a full minute to respond, Thompson said, "Well, then I'm not going to answer it."
Power to the People!
The latest Rasmussen poll and CNN national polls have him at 10 points. The latest CBS News national poll has him at 7 points. He's trading lower than all other frontrunning GOP candidates - to include Paul - on InTrade. And he's dropping, not gaining.
Really. It is so over for his campaign. And playing Mister Crankypants in the debate today isn't going to help his image or his chances.
I’ll do that on my next article ping. :)
Get a load of Spiffy’s latest screed.
I thought his line against Romney about “You are doing a good job of being an actor” was priceless.
“Latest New Hampshire poll”
New Hampshire nominated John McCain last time...their system clearly favors morons.
It’s a toss-up whether I am more disgusted and fed-up with him or the Huckster.
“I thought his line against Romney about You are doing a good job of being an actor was priceless.”
Myth Romney is an actor....a political actor.
It is difficult to make news in one of these debates, because people have seen it all before. But Fred managed to do so.
I think everybody thought these “hand raising” questions were stupid and demeaning. Fred builds on that perception by putting an end to it.
And putting down the NEA is just the icing on the cake!
Way to go Fred. I was wandering by the break room and saw Alan Keyes on the stage. I didn’t even know he was running!
I’ll wait for some real votes to come in. All he has to do is survive Iowa and New Hampshire and get to South Carolina.
Hey Politicalmom,
I don’t know if I am on the list, but please add me!
Thanks
You don’t need those guys. You can handle it on your own. :-)
If you were on the list, you’d KNOW it!!
:)
(They’re coming fast and furious, JB!!)
Oh yeah, Romney is a whole 2 points ahead of Fred nationally. If its over for Fred, Romney is a walking dead man too.
Yeah, but they’re a lot funnier than I am.
Welcome aboard! :)
You’re just mad because Fred OWNED Mitt.
I would not worry anymore about Fred Thompson if I were advising Mitt Romney. Don’t even give him a moments thought, waste an ad or a mailer on him. Don’t spend another dime fighting against him.
Spiff, Mitt needs to really concentrate on Huckabee. I think all the energy he and his supporters have needs to be focused on defeating the Huckster...
heh heh heh heh heh...
New Hampshire does not matter.
Period.
Let’s be honest - northeastern liberals are going to vote for northeastern liberals in that primary.
Their little snit where they changed their primary date to make sure they will still be ‘first’ demonstrates to me (and many others) their need to make themselves more important than they are - which is just this side of irrelevant.
All ANYONE has to say, if asked about a poor NH showing when campaigning in places like SC and FL, is - “that’s New Hampshire, they think differently up there than we do out here in the real world.”
If conservatives start playing follow-the-leader with small northeastern states then conservatism is doomed.
