Ditch has given up on #ResistingTrump?
Short of a complete economic collapse.... Trump will win re-election by the biggest landslide since Reagans Re-election.
What the 2020 campaign WILL do is bring out a LARGE slate of potential Democrat candidates, who will tear each other up like a roomful of tomcats. Were I one of those considering being part of that prospect, I would be filled with the worst sort of dread and terror. Oppo research is already running in overdrive, and only will gear up even higher and higher.
But that may be even more entertaining for the spectators than watching “The Purge” or “American Horror Show”.
In other words, more winning.
FLAKE, JEB BUSH, and KASICH will run to pour fire on DEMOCRAT lies and innuendos. They are bitter and small.
I think Mitch has realized that he likes winning and hes feeling the love of the GOP(finally). He finally doesnt feel like a hapless loser.
He also knows that he personally will be much better off backing a great conservative POTUS like Trump.
Hes also seen what happened to petty anti-Trump gadflies like Corker and Flake. If Juan McLame hadnt croaked, he would have been driven out of his senate seat eventually. McLame was ultimately a HATED Arizona senator with a less than 20 percent approval rating last summer.
“Republicans, such as retiring Sen. Jeff Flake of Arizona, are considering challenging Trump in 2020.”
I think that’s a great idea. Spend more of his money, i.e., flush it down the toilet.
The GOP establishment might be planning to pull a Reagan. Once Bush senior became president the first thing they did was get rid of all the Reagan people (non-establishment people). We must never let that happen again.
Especially with that field of candidates.
I think there are different types of NeverTrumpers, who had very different reasons for opposing him.
Some were globalists and knew Trump was a threat to their swamp existence.
Some underestimated Trump’s appeal and honestly thought he would lose and drag the Republican Party down with him.
Others were true conservatives who misjudged Trump, believing he was only pretending to be a conservative.
I think the latter two types have realized they were badly mistaken - Trump has more than proven that he is the genuine article. And he has more than proven he is a winner.
I get the impression that NeverTrumpism has all but disappeared. The only confirmed neverTrumpers left are either leftists or globalists who wouldn’t have voted for any conservative republican, and a few diehard Bush, Kasich or Cruz supporters who are still butt hurt over how badly Trump thrashed their guy in the primaries.
I know a lot of rock solid Trump supporters who were originally neverTrumpers. They talk as if they were on the Trump train from the very beginning - I think some of them really believe it!
