First, let me put my cards on the table. Bush's signature on this steaming turd was a mistake. I know why he did it, however. Had he vetoed it, McCain would have screamed bloody murder, declared himself an independent, and would have caucused with Daschle. You folks are forgetting that Daschle had turned Jeffords. It would have been easy for him to flip McCain.

That said, those of you who wish to stand by principle come what may forget everything Ronald Reagan tried to teach you. Reagan understood when to compromise. Barry Goldwater didn't . Reagan never lost an election. Barry Goldwater got creamed in the only election that counted.

Principle can only be advanced through a two-steps forward, one step back approach. It is a long hard slog, sort of like a Supreme Court nomination fight. My way or the highway won't win the cultural battle on gun rights, abortion, or any of the other social issues. You don't like this? Get your reps to start reforming the law. It's how things are done.

Tell you what. I plan to vote for whichever Republican runs against Barbara Boxer. I plan to vote for my Republican Congressman George Radanovich. And despite some of his decisions that I hate, I plan to vote for George W. Bush as president. The alternative is unthinkable. And there's no way in hell I'll ever give up and surrender to the left without a fight.

On the other hand there are many things about Bush that I do like. The reality is that I will vote for Bush. The alternatives are unthinkable to me.

My sentiments exactly. The fact that Bush isn't perfect is a bummer. The fact the he is President instead of Gore is a great good fortune. Any of the Dem'o'craps getting elected would be a tragedy.

Before the final draft was even submitted, the "powers that be" of BOTH sides had already determined that ALL the restrictions could be overcome.

McCain-Feingold was as meaningless today as the day it was signed. There are pleanty of work arounds.

Really, CFR is insignifigant in the scheme of things, especially when compared to things such as national security, taxes, religious freedom, and business regulations.

I am willing to bet that this new law doesn't make a whit of difference in this election.

Why? Cause people just find a way around it, just as they have done in regards to ALL OTHER election finance laws which have been passed previously.

The most that happens when a CFR law is broken is that some organization gets a fine, AFTER the election is over.

Check it out. When's the last time you've heard of any signifigant punishment for breaking a old CFR law?

I will support whom I please thank you. If I happen to like President Bush - I will feel free to say so no matter how any purists think about it.

I may not like everything he does - but, he does not control everything in government - we have the democrat party trying to destroy this country.

When it comes time to chose who I wish to lead this country the next four years - I can wholeheartedly say - I want George Bush - perfect or not.

I would propose contacting one's CongressCritters and Senate reps and demanding that steps be taken to have CFR repealled as quickly as possible. Its not too often I find myself at variance with Dubya however in this case, I'm on the other side and have to disagree with his position. Any infringement on the enumerated rights spelled out in Constitution can not be a good thing.

Don't we risk suffering the same fate as black voters? The Rats can safely ignore black voters because they know on election day, they'll go 90% for the Rat candidate, no matter what. If we support Republican candidates, no matter what, they will similarly take us for granted.

Voting against a shrill Marxist like Babs Boxer is too easy. What about a race of Gerald Parsky vs Dianne Feinstein?

John McCain is up for re-election this year. Many would argue that it is important that he be re-elected so that the Senate stays in GOP hands. But I think he causes more trouble as a Republican senator than any freshman Rat senator could create.

People constantly violate previous campaign laws, and the most that happens is a fine, and even that is rare.

He was in fine form. Some of those gals kind of make me think that (some) women shoudn't have gotten the vote - present company excepted, of course!
I think since coming back from rehab he's sharper than ever - like several years ago. And *funny*! But he was po'ed today, he's not pleased with the SCOTUS (aka the evil buffoons, although around 3 of them are human).
