Call CNN and complain
vanity

Posted on 02/13/2004 8:16:05 AM PST by Republican Red

I just got off the phone with viewer response area at CNN. The poor girl said she has been taking many calls of complaint about CNN not reporting the Kerry affair story.

She said they are still "researching" this story.

I have called CNN many times and am usually treated badly. I was ready for a fight but this poor girl was the B team.

I really think they are getting flooded with complaints and she was put on duty to field the overflow of calls.

Supposedly CNN logs all complaints and presents them to management (I suspect the circular file).

Keep up the pressure

No toll free number available at CNN for viewer complaints.

FNC wasn't covering it yesterday either. I support the media confirming rumors of these types before actually running a bunch of coverage. Of course, that means they should have never started pushing the AWOL story either!

I am torn on this issue. Part of me has the "what's good for the goose is good for the gander" attitude, the rest of me wants to support the truth only. That requires verification of the rumor.

If it ends up being true, the focus by me will be on how Kerry handles it. If he comes out and admits it and is truthful, then I say good enough. I would focus on him lying or trying to cover it up.

I think we should stay consistent with our statements surrounding the Klintoon affair. His perjury was rightfully the focus and the left kept trying to say that conservatives were prudes that wanted to impeach him because of his sex life. He perjured himself, that perjury influenced a court decision and that remained my focus.

I want to remain consistent this time around and say that if the rumor is true and Kerry is truthful, we should let it drop.

This excuse that they are still "researching" the story is BS. If this were a Republican, they would be out nailing down responses from the accused and his supporters. "Is this story true...and if it is, should he resign" is a common question that Republicans would be fielding so they could put them on the spot...if it happens to be true. They are also ignoring that is was Weasley Clark that made the initial disclosure. There is a lot of news to be covered, here, and they are ignoring it...even if they haven't verified the story, yet.

Excellent point! If the rumors involve a Dem/Liberal, the press says, "WE cannot run such stories without confirmation." If the rumors involve a Repub/conservative, they LEAP to get it on the air first (i.e. the lies about Bush "deserting" from the Guard).

Friends, I do not believe the Liberal media can be cured. I think the humane thing to do is to have it put to sleep.

I concede that the liberal press will report, ad nausiem, anything they hear (or make up) about GWB to make him look bad. Saying a lie enough times will convince the sheep that it is true. However, I do like to take the high road when my evil lib friends ask me about these things.

It is fun to say, well if it is true and Kerry admits it right away, then I say it is a non issue. Now, will you (the dem) admit that the AWOL story is a non issue, since it has been proven to not be true. They will always retort that the AWOL issue needs more investigation, etc. I then tell them they are a hypocrit with no moral or logical position and that is why their party is continually losing ground to the conservative principles.

The looks on their faces are worth a million bucks!

Lack of research hasn't stopped them from flooding us with the Bush/National Guard story. Do you suppose it has anything to do with his party affiliation?

I don't disagree that the media are dropping the ball on this. But you have to remember what put the AWOL story on the map--the Dems had a spokesman (McAuliffe) with enough guts to go on one of the major networks and make the charge. That put it into play and started the whole frenzy. The GOPers don't have the cajones to do that.

that's because the GOP stands out of the way while the DemoncRATs eat each other up with these allegations now being hurled by Dean and frustrated Clark staffers. More important for CNN to show IMO was the interview with Jane Fonda defending Hanoi John ... it's too bad Drudge took the bait he was fed and shelved that coverage so quickly.

Only if we want to be more like the French. The Clinton infidelities debacle shifted to being a legalistic debate...as if the only thing questionable about his behavior was to be framed in the legality/ illegality of it. Much more to it, IMO and I don't mean that purely in moralistic terms but also in very real practical terms. Such as, can a president be an effective president and manage the distractions of a runaway libido? When I look back on Clinton's term and see the building of al quaeda & Dr. Kahn's mail-order nukes business, I think not. Other pertinent considerations are ones of national security--''who'' is this woman who is sleeping with ''the president'' this month, this week? What do we know about who she is, who she is connected to, what degree of access she has, etc.

The GOP was not the original source of this story and should not push this story. Clark started this story it should be reported as such.

Will Tim Russert drill Kerry like he did President Bush on Meet the DePressed? Will Timmy hold up a photo of the "other" woman and ask Kerry "what were you thinking?"....

NO, BECAUSE 95% OF THE MEDIA ARE SOCIALISTS!

Yes, I agree that morals need to be considered, but not for impeachment, only at the ballot box by each individual. The legal aspects warranted impeachment. Kerry's actions should be considered when casting a ballot.

My point is that we can chose how to treat this issue and use it as a tool to show the Dems and mainstream press to be the hypocrits that they are....

Well, the research is over. CNN just had a piece from Jeff Greenfield on Newsnight with Aaron Brown under the caption "SMEAR WARS." They totally blew off the story and were sneering about the Drudge Report, the internet, and no editing like CNN has.

CNN has made up their mind. They story is a right-wing smear campagin, in their eyes. What a shock.

Lack of research didn't seem to stop them from reporting the Bush National Guard story. Tell them that.

I saw that too. What a crock. Now they will get right back to investigating the National Guard story.
Switched to local news and they were basically doing the same. Depressing.

I try to keep away from CNN, so thanks for the update. I knew this was coming; when the media finally decides to cover the story, they cover it as "dirty tricks" from "right-wing internet operators." They ignore the fact that this story has been around for some time, covered by the National Enquirer...and it was Wesley Clark who mentioned that an "implosion" was about to occur over an intern scandal, in front of a dozen or so reporters. Heck, it was Craig Crawford from Hotline (or whatever it's called) who publicly said that Chris Lehane was shopping this story around to willing journalists. Ahh...but some how it's a right-wing smear, while Terry McAwful gets away with calling the President AWOL from service 30 years ago. Other than the Drudge Report, I have yet to see one elected Republican politician who's even mentioned this...unlike the number of Democrats who've openely questioned Bush's service.

We also need to beware of the "democrats" who are flooding the internet with fake photoshop stills of Kerry and Fonda. While a real picture exist of the both of them together, the Democrats are putting others out there that aren't real so they can create doubt among the populous that the actual real one is also a fake...and the media's playing right along with this. Unlike past elections, liberal desparation is at it highest point ever...and the media is even shunning any pretence of objectivity. This is going to get real nasty before it's all over.
